Summary
After Daniel dies, Maddie attributes the discomfort of being called a sister to that. She tells herself she just doesn’t like people commenting on her femininity, that it’s hard to be a girl in general so of course hearing it can hurt sometimes.
Besides, she doesn’t always hate it. Sometimes she goes to church in her prettiest dress and shoes, and she does her hair up and puts clips in it just because it feels nice. She doesn’t have any real issues with being a girl, probably.

Summary
Tommy glances over to the door and very much doesn’t jump when he sees Wilbur staring at the two of them, standing in the doorway with his arms straight by his side like a brown haired, glasses-wearing slenderman.
“What’s up, big man?” He asks, not at all startled. He meets Wilbur’s somewhat dazed look with a raised eyebrow. A few moments pass.
Looking at him, Tommy can gather the answer is nothing good. In terms of panic faces, Wilbur has what Tommy calls an ‘oh, fuck’ face, and then an ‘oh, Fuck-with-a-capital-F’ face. And this is most certainly the second one.

And then there was the boy. Curled into a corner behind Traveler, his skin even paler than his, dark circles under his eyes. He pushed himself upright as soon as he saw them walk in. He had a lovely made face, sweet and delicate with big round blue eyes, cupid bow lips and an upturned nose. There was blood and dirt on his cheeks, and he was pressing a hand down firmly against his side, but not even his disheveled state did anything to obscure his beauty.
His hair was violet. All of him was so painfully familiar that Miko wasn’t surprised at all when she heard Ei gasp, then whisper to herself.
‘Makoto’, she said. Then, louder, “Makoto.”

“Ratio?” he asks, stepping a bit closer. “It’s me, Aventurine. Are you… do you want to go home?”
At the mention of his name, Ratio stills, a light startle in his step as he turns to face Aventurine. He drops his hands, lacing them back together in front of him. He looks dazed, normal intensity lost from his eyes as they open glassy and vacant. They flex wide with recognition, but he doesn’t say anything.
Ratio goes quiet, and Aventurine doesn't know what to do.
