Gandalf’s bushy eyebrows shot up and a smile spread across his face. “Indeed, here you are—and full of surprises, as I rather expected, Bilbo Baggins!”

Ed is a shepherd whose favorite ram has no interest in lady sheep. Izzy tells him to get rid of it, but when Ed looks for alternatives, he finds farmer and local gay lunatic Stede Bonnet, who rescues gay rams and sells their wool under his brand, "Revenge Wool". Ed is immediately a goner.

He squeezed Bilbo’s shoulder before clearing his throat. “Young Master Baggins, here, is the son of one of the Shire’s most proficient Westron speakers. He was exposed to the language as a child, although he hasn’t had much use for it in his lifetime so his skills have, understandably, diminished. But I have no doubt that, given the opportunity to learn, he would pick it up quite quickly. He is a clever fellow if I’ve ever known one.”
(OR: Thorin needs a burglar, Bilbo needs a dictionary, and Gandalf needs a drink.)

Convinced his dwarves have not forgiven him, Bilbo escaped back to the Shire and accepts that his adventure came to an end. The company, unaware of his arrest, eventually must accept that their burglar must have perished in the battle. A recreated mournful journey back to the Shire forces everyone to confront the past.

One of the company of Thorin Oakenshield had fallen, one that had been marked a traitor only to be proven the strongest and bravest of them all. Stricken with grief and pain, Thorin disregards the potential backlash for laying a non-dwarf to rest in Erebor and gives Bilbo an honorable dwarven funeral.
However, when horror struck, it rattled the very stone around them. Everyone thinks that it is the result of divine retribution...but Mahal truly does love his wife and her beloved children.

Summary
When one left their wife and declared that they were gay, certain expectations tended to follow. Expectations that said person would get a boyfriend rather than show up to every party alone, for example.
So Stede had fibbed a little. For the last two months, he’d had an extremely handsome and kind boyfriend who was also extremely busy. The lie worked well, until he ran into Mary in the grocery store and accidentally said he was shopping with his boyfriend. Stede grabbed the first guy he saw by his leather-clad arm.
“I’ll buy your groceries for a month if you pretend to be my boyfriend,” Stede whispered in the guy's ear. He hauled the guy around to face Mary and Doug.
“What the fu—“ Grocery Store Guy started to say, but Stede stomped on his foot to shut him up.
(In which Stede needs a fake boyfriend, and Izzy gets dragged into the chaos)

The last thing Izzy remembered was getting shot and dying, quite painfully. At least he was pretty certain he remembered that happening. So when he woke back up on the deck of the Revenge he was all but convinced he'd landed in his own personal hell.
___________________________Or, Izzy gets flung back in time after dying, becuase what better way for the universe to say "fuck you" than to make him relive all his worst days aboard Bonnets ship. The crew hate him at present. And damn it all, he can't even blame them for it.
But maybe things can go differently this time.
Fuck Bonnet and his fucking "talk it through" philosophy, look at him! He's grown a conscience! And all that's ever done for Izzy is get him Dead!

Early in his travels with the dwarves, Bilbo has a growing fever but says nothing for fear of being seen as weak and slowing down the quest. He presses on until he literally can't anymore and the company is forced to wait on him to recover. Bilbo wants nothing more than Thorin's approval, but a small series of missteps and ill-timing has the dwarf frustrated with Bilbo's vulnerability, and Bilbo questioning whether he should have ever come on this quest in the first place.
