‘Tell me you’re not doing what you’re doing,’ comes Cristian’s voice, tired and tender. He doesn’t sound angry, though of course he has every right to that too. Fabi cannot remember the last time he exercised that right. He supposes that Cristian is a good man, and prefers to choose well.
He allows himself a wry smile. ‘Sorry. Force of habit,’ he says. Self-punishment is a habit.
