Keeping his bed warm seems to scratch that itch and it takes the edge off just enough that he can keep up Hangman’s act without revealing what happens behind the scenes. No one hears his hoarse shouts in the dead of night, Bradley’s name dying on his lips as his mind conjures images of him dying in midair when Jake’s too late. They don’t see the way his hands shake when he grips the gearshift in his truck, reminiscent of pulling the trigger as he’d palmed the joystick to take out the fifth gen. It’s another reason why he, of all people, should know that actions have consequences.
