Akaashi took a breath, willing the rest of the words to come out. He’d been on the opposite side of this conversation enough times to know how it was supposed to go. Those words, spoken by Bokuto at seventeen, nineteen, twenty-two, had hurt enough to linger, timbre and pitch and intensity all burned into the worn-down edges of his memory: Akaashi, I’m seeing someone!
“Bokuto-san,” he said, his own voice hoarse and cracking. “I’ve been seeing someone.”

Photographer Bokuto convinces small town bookstore employee Akaashi to do a quick photoshoot with him in a nearby park. After the photos get posted online, Akaashi finds himself being offered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work for Nekoma Modeling Agency.
With no connections in Tokyo and no budget to move, Akaashi is inclined to say no…until Bokuto offers to let Akaashi move in with him for the duration of the modeling contract.
