When Kenma comes back he doesn't greet them, doesn't even spare them a glance before storming upstairs and locking himself away. His partners think he is overwhelmed from the convention he attended but are irritated at first then worried. He never avoided them so completely. The reason why hits like a gut punch.
Or Kenma comes back from the convention isolating. He isn't ready to face them yet and tries to deal with his new trauma alone at first.
