It was a completely normal day in Gotham. This should have been Cass' first clue, because it wasn't just a normal Gotham day, it was a normal day.
It was so normal that she decided to head out for coffee. Or, well, some other drink. Steph had brought her a cappuchino one time and it had not tasted good. Tea was nice. And, for once, she didn't prepare her suit. She tucked it into a corner, the one part of her flat she reverently tidied regularly, grabbed a Gotham Museum of Natural History tote bag she'd stolen from Tim, and headed for the coffee shop.

Summary
There's a wolf running through the streets of Gotham. Cass isn't sure how it got here, but she knows it shouldn't be here, and she knows she can stop it before someone gets hurt. Or someone hurts it.
Wolves are pack animals, obviously. She watched a documentary about them. Steph made the mistake of letting her pick the movie, and she wanted to learn about wolves. She knew how they hunted already, but still. There was more to life than hunting.

The hospital waiting room is strange to her. She sits on uncomfortable cushions and stares at barren white walls. She stares at the magazines that wait patiently. She's pretty sure they're a few months old, judging from the spring fashions the glamorous people on the covers are wearing.
It's winter now.
Cass waits. She's honestly not sure why she's here. This is a place for family, and, well—as much as she loves Barda, she's unsure of where she stands with the Frees.

"Mr. Kent," Wayne greets, nodding in his direction. "I trust your trip to Gotham went well."
Bruce Wayne—not Wayne Enterprises, Bruce Wayne himself—had bought Clark a ticket on a Greyhound bus to Gotham. They were one of the only companies still routing buses through the city after the flood, and to Clark's knowledge travel restrictions still hadn't lifted as outside aid trucks made their way in. It wasn't nearly as bad as the direct aftermath of the incident, but it had tempered Clark's expectations upon heading into Gotham.
"It was good. You're sure you don't want to hear the questions beforehand?" Clark asks.
