Akechi wasn’t one to doze off, but the soft electric hum of the heater and the fuzzy, muted picture of Akira’s ancient TV screen lulled him in and out of sleep on Akira’s tacky sofa since his arrival earlier in the day.
He shouldn’t be napping, he should be looking over case files and analyzing any new data. As a detective, he had no time to waste like this. But something about Akira, even just his place, seemed to disarm him entirely.

Summary
Goro frowns. “Joker?”
“The Ghost King.” Ann glances to the side, like just mentioning his name will summon him to her heavenly palace. “The most powerful Ghost King in centuries.”
“I can’t say that I have heard about this…Joker,” Goro says. “But then again, I haven’t exactly been able to keep up with current affairs.”
Ann cringes. “Well, he’s, uh…very mysterious anyway. No one knows much about him. He showed up about a hundred years ago, but none of us—” she waves a hand to encompass all of heaven, “—have ever seen him directly. We’ve just heard rumors.”
After more than two centuries of punishment for an unforgivable crime, Akechi Goro, the God of Justice, has been granted another chance. Determined not to waste it, he spends his time on earth, dealing with incidents that other gods can't or won't handle themselves, all while trying to leave his painful past behind him. His hopes for a peaceful existence are shattered by the appearance of Ren, a mysterious young man who seems abnormally interested in him and who awakens memories that Goro would rather stay buried.

Summary
Akira closes the distance between them. His hair brushes against Goro’s chin as he ducks his head. He could bite any moment, yet Goro doesn’t try to retreat. He stays where he stands. Beyond the smell of blood and decay, he smells lavender and honeysuckle. He remembers seeing them by the druid’s grove as they were trying to track down the healer. Akira must have taken some then to try to conceal the subtle scent of death that clings to him.
“You smell… so good,” Akira whispers. “What are you?”
“I’m an elf.”
“I’m an elf. You don’t smell like an elf.”
The statement surprises Goro. Everything about Akira surprises Goro, this vampire who’s more worried about saving people than killing them, yet who hasn’t shied away from the death Goro deals with disconcerting ease. “What do I smell like?”
Cool lips brush against Goro’s neck. “Power.”

Goro immediately surges forward, just barely able to prevent Robin from falling out of his lap. "You didn't."
"We did," Loki and Hereward both chirp at the same time, and Goro spends a few solid seconds just looking between them and the items they brought.

That’s when Ren saw him.
Center of the mass of bodies, glowing gold faintly and bumping elbows with the degenerates around him with the most proud grace. His light brown hair whipped around, and revealed the slender lines of his throat and face that smiled beneath a face arrayed with light. His outfit too made him pleasing to the eyes. White collar with gold studs, a white crop top to show off a tight tummy and the edges of a tattoo that looked like wings, and booty shorts and thigh high boots, all white, to complete… a look. A look that Ren liked. Definitely a little more than aesthetically.
“Do you see that?” Ren asked. “In the middle of the dance floor?”
“Huh. That is certainly…” Sumi grabbed one of the fruitier and lighter drinks he’d bought, and peered over the rail. “I couldn’t begin to guess Senpai.”
“I think it’s an angel,” Ren said.
