They grab him by the hair and force his head to the side. They shove rubber over his tongue and callous fingers close his jaw shut around it with a muttering to preserve his teeth. Something touches his neck. He thinks he hears himself cry out, or it's a hundred, other dying voices doing it for him. He can smell cooked meat—actual food, not dried rations, not things pulverized and cubed and lifeless.
It doesn't stop.
He reaches for Eden and she no longer answers.

He should have predicted this, really. If it weren't some last minute missions and his deep-rooted repression habits, maybe Shadow would have noticed something is off. Or maybe it's the thickening mental fog that clouds his mind recently. Regardless, he is not content in the least. He's the Ultimate Lifeform, for Chaos’ sake, so why does he feel betrayed by his own body?!
