"You speak nonsense Grayson, I had it handled.” Damian grits out reluctantly, his gaze averted briefly before they refocus on Dick.
Meanwhile, Dick wants to shake this child by his shoulders, "Why don’t you understand you’re not alone? Batman and Robin work as a team, they always have so–”
"The previous Robins were unworthy of the title, I am obviously far more competent than those insolent fools. I need not your ceaseless concern.” The boy snarks, crossing his arms and turning his body ever so slightly away.

Summary
Somehow though, he didn’t expect love to ache. He had seen families who played board games every Friday night and classmates that visited the arcades after school without care and assumed that love was demure, that love was easy.
Then he finds out that love also feels like an uphill battle that you’re being dragged up along, that love requires effort and healing (so much healing, so much getting used to) and the realisation dims the warmth in his heart from a forest fire to something more manageable. Something he could hold without burning, something he could pass around in small gestures and well-meaning promises.
In which Sakura thinks about the newfound love in his life.

Summary
His limbs grow wearier as each slash and dodge becomes more manual, exhaustion creeping in like a winter's cold.
He ignores the way his student’s confused screams fade into nothing as Mikey’s portal closes abruptly, and he smiles. It’s a bitter smile tainted by thirty four long and arduous years of war, tainted by the misplaced responsibility put onto his immature shoulders at the mere age of 15.
A bright light envelops him, the pain fading quickly into bliss and the sweet relief of it all has him crying.
He’s free. He can apologise and see his family again, without burden and able to relax. Leo has missed Raph’s gentle nagging, Donnie’s sarcastic quips. He’s mourned Mikey’s free smile before, his dad’s gentle and soft eyes, April’s toothy grin.
As he falls, there is only one thing on his mind.
‘I’m home.’
He wakes up with a startled gasp and a pained heave. That’s not supposed to happen.
Or: F!Leo goes to the past and is just as mentally unhealthy but doesn’t hate little Leo.

Summary
The statement holds no humour but Tommy laughs at the words, everyone stares in horror but he can’t help but laugh bitterly at the figure’s words.
“No Wilbur, you don’t understand. You wouldn’t have taken a blessed’s loyalty so lightly then. It was never meant to be, farewell Wilbur.”
And like that, the boy blessed by a god’s touch but cursed for a lifetime disappeared.

“Simon?”
Simon slides a book into place before turning around. The man in front of him is lean, worn thin, with bags like dusky thumbprints beneath his eyes. He’s swallowed by the massive black hoodie he’s wearing, his hands wedged deep into his pockets and his shoulders hunched.
For reasons he cannot begin to understand, Simon wants to crush this man into a tiny ball and then shove him into the mouth that gapes, screaming, around his own starved heart.
He doesn’t do that, obviously. He’s on the clock.

He was calling Shane back before he even thought about it, his heart in his throat.
“Ilya?”
“Can I invite Svetlana?"
He could never have expected what happened next.
Or: Only a few months after the cottage, Shane meets Svetlana—and goes to great lengths to defeat his jealousy.
