Grian smiled upon seeing him, and he saw how Scar raised a hand in greeting from his periphery.
However — the smiles and gleeful greetings weren't returned.
Instead, Cub only nodded curtly.

Scar frowned, leaning closer the best he could from where he was sitting. "No, they won't."
"They definitely will!" Grian exclaimed, throwing his hands in the air from frustration. "I'm the definition of a traitor."
"Maybe. But they're your family. If I am to believe anything you've told me about them — they'll understand."
Grian turned to look at him, deadpanning.
Scar grimaced. "…Eventually."
OR:
Grian was sent by the resistance to assassinate the king of Bluecrest. He was meant to murder Scar. Except, once he realized that Scar was the mysterious man he'd been meeting in his dreams every night — he couldn't make himself do it.
But how is he supposed to tell his siblings?

Summary
Grian knew a lot of things.
He knew which plants were safe for consumption, and which ones weren’t. He knew how to fly, and how to treat wounds. He knew how to navigate his surroundings, and how to single-handedly cook for a crew of up to 60 people. He could scrub the deck until his arms went completely numb, bringing him dangerously close to passing out. He knew tons of things, really.
How to be useful. When to shut up and do what he was told
But most importantly — he knew not to hope.
or: I rewrote chapter 1 of Starry Eyes Sparking Up My Darkest Night because I hated it and needed to prove a point.

The stranger squinted at him. “Weird. My dreams aren’t usually this odd."
That snapped Grian out of it. His heart slowed just enough to let his mouth catch up. “Wait. Dream?"
The man nodded, casual. “Yeah. I’m lucid dreaming. You’re a figment of my subconscious, or something like that."
Grian raised an eyebrow.
Yeah. Definitely his weirdest dream so far.

Grian is a thief, living in a crumbling alleyway shack with his younger siblings, Pearl and Jimmy. He’s also the leader of a resistance movement, formed in retaliation to a neglectful king of a crumbling kingdom — and anything he touches becomes infected by a deadly spore.
Each night, Grian meets a man he feels impossibly drawn to — a connection neither of them can explain. While something tender begins to grow between them, the resistance plans their attempt on the king’s life.

Blood pours from the gaping wound across his stomach, hot and sticky, each step a gamble with gravity and guts. His vision flickers at the edges. He should have stopped by now.
He had a plan. He would leave his chambers when They were preoccupied Watching the first installment of MCC, and quietly make his way to Their portal hall.
He had been foolish for ever thinking he could avoid Their Eyes.
So now, he's getting chased with his insides simultaneously threatening to spill out.
Or; Grian escapes the downside-up, and crashlands onto Hermitcraft — with a hint of stockholm syndrome. :)

It’s almost too easy. He would just have to get back up the ladder and retrieve the small maroon box hidden in a chest beneath his bed. The ring had been done for days, gold and copper woven together tightly with an emerald sitting on top. It’s beautiful, and Scar knows Grian would like it.
The moment is perfect. He feels warm and Grian is trembling softly against him. It’s just them, together, so close. All he has to do is get the ring.He hesitates.
Jellie scratches Scar’s leg.
Grian starts laughing as Scar groans against him in pain, all while Jellie whines for attention, already drawing back her paw for another attack.
Tomorrow, Scar thinks. Tomorrow.

five times Scar thinks about proposing to Grian and the one time actually does.

Summary
Scar has frequently imagined how he'd meet Grian again. Grian, the human he'd been designed to be a therapy android for and gone deviant for. Grian, the human who had who had tried to get Scar sent back to the factory under the assumption he was a malfunctioning piece of equipment, leading to Scar fleeing to a small but growing android resistance. He's often imagined this as the climax of his character arc, as the moment he would explain that they could have been friends, that he'd been hurt, that what Grian did was wrong.
He didn't imagine it as them getting into a screaming match in the middle of a grocery store, but hey! Sometimes life does funny things like that.

The man hovering over him leaned back, releasing Grian completely. Cold night air rushed in to fill the void.
“I guess it’s out in the open now,” the stranger hummed. “Shame. I wanted to avoid this.”
With the additional glow occupying the space between them, Grian was finally able to catch features that were lost in the prior darkness. His curiosity outweighed all else, and he drank them in greedily. As soon as he saw who sat across from him, alarms blared in his mind.
This man wasn’t a civilian, wasn’t even a hero.
“Hello, Doctor,” the villain mused. “You were quite the help today.”

Grian is a vet. After a chance encounter in the dead of night, during which he accidentally saves a villain from the brink of death, he suddenly finds himself entangled in a world beyond anything he could've ever imagined.
