The fight was way longer than they anticipated. Good thing they have a breaking system, so everyone gets a break every 12 hours, right? Except Steve somehow manages to miss every single one of his breaks.

“Whoa, no, Tony it’s- it’s ok, if Rhodey’s hurt then he needs to be priority, I can last.” Steve fought against himself to say, fought against the ache in his bones and the desperate cry for rest in his head, fought against the feeling of emptiness, having had barely more than an energy bar every 12 hours or so, and against the pain in his side from the punch that had sent him into the stone wall in the first place. He’s still getting used to being with Tony again, this softer, older version of him, and how difficult that makes keeping his hands to himself because all he wants to do is touch him.

I have no idea where this is going - it was just supposed to be porn, but now there are actual ideas I want to explore, and basically it's all my friend Laurie's fault.
And yes, this is a version of Loki that's all broken-baby-let's-be-nice-to-him, rather than going for the far more realistic genocidal madman approach - normally I'm firmly against woobiefying bad guys without serious consideration of the consequences of their actions, but just this once I wanted to play in that sandbox. I hope you have fun - it's been a lot of fun for me.
Summary? Basically Loki gets captured and some serious weirdness happens between him and the Good Captain. It might end up romantic, but right now I'm aiming for "sexy".

He’s breaking Tony’s heart, the way he’s desperately seeking an ally in him, delirious from his fever and begging to be spared from some suffering, but they have done everything else they could and none of it has made a dent in this murderous fever. There’s a reason they waited until they exhausted every single one of their other options before bringing up an ice bath: they all knew what this would do to Steve. They knew what they would be putting him through, but this is the last and only resort. It’s this or risk letting the next eight hours take his life.
