After two years of community college, Evan "Buck" Buckley transfers to the university where his sister is going to grad school and meets Ph.D. student Tommy Kinard. They strike up a fast friendship that quickly spirals into more.
EXCERPT:
He was a tall man, about as tall as Buck. A little tanned, maybe from time in the sun.
Curls.
Chestnut brown curls and eyes the color of a clear sky.
Cleft.
He had a cleft.
And big muscles that had a Henley that seemed stretched over them as well as some washed-out jeans.
He was laughing.
As he opened that door to Buck.
Solo cup in hand as he – as he turned to Buck.
And.
Had the guy swallowed a bit?
Straightened himself up?
Had the man just cleared his throat a bit?
“Hi, uh. What’s up?” asked the guy, and he was just –
Buck didn’t know.
He was having trouble stringing a sentence together as those eyes held Buck’s gaze. And all Buck wanted to do was to keep those eyes on him for just one second more when he saw the guy begin to turn his head and –
“Evan!” Buck blurted, “I’m Evan. Evan Buckley. Some people call me Buck, though.”
