Summary
“How the fuck do you know my name?” Dean hisses.
The man doesn’t look scared. He is watching Dean like there is nothing else worth watching, lips a little parted, eyes a little soft. And blue. Real blue, like the ocean on a postcard.
The ice spreading down Dean’s spine makes him shiver.
“I suppose you could say I’m your guardian angel,” the man murmurs. His breath fogs pale between them. All of him is unnaturally warm, like Dean’s touching somebody with the sun sewn up beneath their skin. “I have known you, Dean Winchester, for a very long time.”
*
Dean meets an angel who says he's from the future. It all gets a lot more complicated from there.

Summary
He sat there in silence, the last moments of Dean swirling in his mind. Time seemed to warp and fold. He did not know if it had been minutes, hours, or days. The flat blackness around him wobbled somewhere to his right. A thin, waspy voice crawled into his ears.
"Why are you so… bright?" it said.
Castiel turned his head slightly, but it seemed futile to try and pinpoint the source of the voice. He knew what it was, and that it was both everywhere and nowhere. He did not, however, know what it meant. A faint shape formed inches from his eyes. It looked vaguely like a featureless face, and it tilted its head like a strange, slow bird. He blinked at it. He did not have the energy to respond. He was exhausted by the despair in his bones, resting heavy in his limbs.
"There are not supposed to be souls here," the Empty said.
(The Empty rejects Castiel. He is a wreck. So is Dean.)

Why does this sound like goodbye?
Because it is.Not if Dean Winchester had anything to say about it.
[ In which an angel blade and Dean's quick thinking prevents The Empty from taking Castiel - or at least only taking a small piece of him ]
