Summary
Leo finally comes back, and Izumi doesn’t know how to handle it.
There’s a void in his chest, aching for warmth; aching for the light that Leo brought into his life that would normally brighten this darkness within him.
But Leo comes back different. He’s no longer the naive, optimistic individual that Izumi met when they were bright-eyed first years— but rather, someone jaded, a raw gem in the wild with jagged edges that pierce.

Summary
Izumi knows without turning around that the voice belongs to Tsukinaga Leo. He’s an in-house composer at the company, and someone who Izumi works very hard to avoid.
(In fact, when he found out that he and Leo work at the same company, Izumi wanted to quit his job on the spot. Unfortunately, there weren’t many other companies that offered positions as flexible as the one Izumi holds, so Izumi instead ensures that he sees as little of Leo as possible— which isn’t hard, considering they work in very different departments.)
He slings his camera bag over his shoulder, and makes to leave the studio. As he heads out, he walks by Leo, and they maintain a split second of eye contact. A current runs down his spine, and Izumi looks away and leaves the room.

Summary
Leo has always stood by the opinion that jealousy is an ugly emotion, inspiring the worst kind of melody. Even so, that green emotion still wells up in him every time he sees Makoto, or even worse, Makoto with Izumi. Emotionally-driven inspiration leads to some of Leo’s best work, but he actively avoids pen and paper when he feels like this— he doesn’t want to hear this burning jealousy woven into a harmony.

Summary

Adrien smiles as he eats breakfast with Nathalie, smiles as he walks through the halls of his new lycée, smiles as people stop him on the street and tell him time and time again what a "hero" his father was.
(Adrien wishes he could've been a hero, too. He should've been. Maybe then his father would still be alive.)
(But he's surviving. Everyone may be treating him as though he were made of glass, but he can still go through the motions, he can prove them wrong, he can still smile.)
“And you’re… happy,” Marinette spoke carefully, a nervous tilt to her voice, “... right?”

Summary
Al-Haitham hums, sitting back in his seat. His eyes get that look they always do when he's thinking– at least that had stayed the same– before he put his hands in his pockets.
“You can stay with me, if you'd like,” he says all too casually as he pulls a hand back out his pocket. “For the time being,” he adds on a little too quickly, “until you manage to get yourself out of the mess you’ve made.”
Kaveh was about to open his mouth to protest. Like he'd ever take an offer from him, especially with that attitude.
But then Al-Haitham slides a key across the table to him–golden, with emerald embellishments, a carbon copy of the soulmark on Kaveh's arm– and the words on his lips dissipate into the warm tavern air.
