"Nice performance," he calls, watching those dark eyes widen just a fraction before he turns to face him. "Classic. How big was your score tonight?"
He watches Jack look him up and down, no doubt noting the lack of a weapon and the shadows under his eyes and every other sign that he's falling apart, and the tension in his shoulders eases just a fraction. He braces his forearms on the ropes, the corner of his mouth twisting up into a smug smile. "My biggest fan," he drawls, that Brooklyn accent warm and real. One of the only things about him that's real, Daniel reminds himself sternly. He might know him better than anyone else in the world, but he's still a con artist. He doesn't even know if that's his real name. "I'm an honest, law-abiding civilian now, Danny. Promise."
Daniel pauses for a moment before saying, "I'm not."

Summary
Charlie just feels—foggy. Slow. The world feels slow, like he's swimming through molasses, and his brain is racing on ahead and leaving him behind. Moving feels like a monumental task, his fingers melting into the handle of the coffeepot until he can barely tell them apart. He blinks, and the world fades in and out, rippling and twisting slowly like he's caught in a funhouse mirror. A magic mirror, he thinks dazedly, and he shuffles forward a step, wincing as his coffee-soaked socks squelch.
Maybe he is in a magic mirror. Maybe he never left the chateau. Maybe he got shot instead of Thaddeus when Veronika sent the police after them, and everything that's happened since has been nothing but a beautiful dream meant to sing him to sleep.
Maybe he didn't get a man killed for the sake of his own revenge.

Charlie won't let himself sleep until he's sure that the Horsemen are safe--from everything, everywhere, all the time. Henley provides some perspective (and a solution).

“It’s always nice to meet a fan,” Jack greets him, extending a hand to accept the kid's overeager handshake, and tilts his head. “You ever been to one of my shows?”
“No, no— but I’ve seen all the videos there are, really,” Daniel says, seemingly belatedly realising that he’s still clinging onto Jack’s hand and letting go with a faint blush. “I just figured— well, you know, if you could make it, then so could I, and it’s just— you’re such an inspiration, seriously, I idolise you. You inspired me to try magic on my own, and I always wanted to be just like you.”
“Just like me?” he asks neutrally — and from the corner of his eye he can see Lula turning, the faintest change in his tone enough for her to realise something’s shifted, as though there hadn’t been hundreds of miles and four years between now and the last time they’d known each other well — before he looks back at Daniel. We are nothing alike.

Jack Wilder gets a card, joins a team and decides that he can't stand one of its members — a privileged, irresponsible teen that thinks he's better than the rest of them. Unfortunately for both of them, that turns out to be... not quite true.

Summary
He wants to be who the Eye thinks he is. He wants to be more than a magician. He wants to be great, and if Lionel Shrike set him on that path, then maybe he'll be able to do turn around and do the same for the next person in line. Sitting by the tree is a reminder of that, he supposes, a quiet monument to the finally-untarnished legacy of a man who made the world believe in something better. It's routine, and it's comforting, and Daniel's never been one for comfort, but the routine is the anchor he needs while he waits for their next show.
That anchor isn't necessarily supposed to involve a skinny, lanky preteen that talks quickly when he's nervous and calls him a dick within five minutes of meeting him and sticks out his tongue when Daniel calls him one right back, but he'd be lying if he said he wasn't used to the kid's presence now.

Three of the Horsemen encounter three children in New York in the year between Five Pointz and London, and end up bringing them home. Somehow, it feels like they're all right where they're supposed to be.

“Here’s the deal,” Atlas says, voice clipped and short, stuffing his wallet back into a pocket to let an off-white envelope appear in his palm. “You’ve been robbing people at my show — it’s bad for my reputation. Frankly, I shouldn’t even be talking to you, and the only reason that I am is because I know telling you to stop would only make you double down and do it even more.”
“You don’t know that,” Bosco says determinedly, and Charlie can’t stop the grin on his face as he turns to look at him. Bosco’s always contrarian solely for the sake of it, determined to disagree only because he can, and it would appear that not even meeting one of their biggest idols could stop him. “We could totally still be rational people.”
“You pick pockets at pop-up magic shows,” Atlas says derisively, “you’re not rational people in the slightest. I know you’re getting a pretty good score, and me asking you to stop while offering no incentive is practically useless. So, here — I’m paying you to quit robbing my audience. Now, begone.”

Summary
Do they know? Does Atlas? He has to, at least somewhat. He had the audacity to talk like he knew her when they first met, when he brought up the 'boarding schools'. She wasn't June Roquelaure back then; he knew who she used to be.
She had been June McClure, from New Orleans.
An exploration of how June met Charlie and Bosco, got to New York, had her life changed by strangers, yelled at the Horsemen, escaped an abusive boarding school, and robbed a mall. Not necessarily in that order.

Bosco LeRoy is having a monumentally shitty day.
First, he wakes up late, which wasn’t a problem when it was just him, Charlie, and June, but it’s not just them anymore, it’s them and the Horsemen. The goddamn Horsemen. He might’ve put on a show of nonchalance when Atlas first appeared in their hideout, but holy shit was it hard to keep a lid on it. He’s been idolizing J. Daniel Atlas since middle school, and there he was right in front of him, offering them not only a job but a chance to do something beyond swindling egotistical crypto bros and finance jerks. The last thing he wanted to do was to come off as an overzealous kid having bitten off more than he could chew, and now that he’s been welcomed into the Eye’s ranks that pressure has increased tenfold. So, waking up late? Out of the question. He would not have Atlas or Dylan or any of the other Horsemen thinking he wasn’t taking this opportunity seriously.

Summary
He's a sellout in a stupid suit, doing shows for rich idiots on a cruise ship. Jack used to be cool; he used to be kind of like her, stealing from tourists to survive before becoming a part of something bigger. Now, he looks like he's going to start telling her to stay in school and don't do drugs.
Or, June slowly accepts that Jack is actually pretty chill. Also, she has an inexplicable urge to beat his ass. She's pretty sure this is what it feels like to have an older brother.
