He’s exhausted but he can’t stay asleep. Flashes of the nightmare he just woke from flash behind his eyes and he wishes he could forget what he had seen just like he had with all the others.”
Or: Izuku unknowingly gets hit with a quirk that keeps him from falling asleep. His dreams plagued with nightmares keep him from sleep until it evades him completely, leaving him desperate to get some kind of rest.

Shota sneers at the teenager across from him. His defense raises like the hairs on the back of his neck as he glares steadily, ready and waiting for whatever will come from this encounter. He narrows his gaze when the teen shifts; just the thought of sharing this rooftop with Japan's most notorious villain makes his skin prickle. “Deku.”
“Y-yes!” the teenager cries out in relief, taking a small step towards Shota, “I’m Deku! I’m so g-glad you—”
“Deku,” Shota growls darkly, flicking out his capture weapon hastily to snag the villain before he can make his move. He's quick to tug it taut, leaving no room for Deku to escape. “You’re under arrest.”
“I-I’m what?! W-wait!”
tl;dr
Hero Course student Izuku comes to the realization that he is definitely not where he's supposed to be.

If there is one thing that he has learned, it is that surviving is hard. By itself, choosing to survive and continuing to exist will be one of the hardest things to accomplish. By the next day he’s surprised he didn't die the day before.
He should be dead by now, right?
Didn’t his story essentially end the moment he was handed his death sentence in a diagnosis? Or was that where it began?
He’s not sure if he believes in beginnings and endings.
Does it matter how an ending starts when the end is near? Does it matter who is there and who isn’t, what he endures or overcomes? Does it matter how hard he tries, or how much he cares?
People like Izuku survive until they don’t.
Is that Living? Is it Surviving? Is it Death?
