"His body feels heavy. That is the first thing Wei Wuxian notices after the unknown men leave him lying in the shack. He doesn’t think much of it. It’s someone else’s body, after all, and no doubt exhausted after whatever spiritual ordeal it’s been wrung through.
The second thing he notices is that everything reeks. He wrinkles his nose at the metallic smell of dried blood coming from the array, the sour odor of illness, and the greasy sweat lingering in the air from the men who attacked him. However, the strong smells can be explained by the squalor of the shack. It obviously doesn’t get cleaned often.
It isn’t until Wei Wuxian stares into the bronze mirror that he understands. Because, despite the makeup, the face staring back is undoubtedly that of an alpha."
