“Right,” said Merlin quietly. “Sire.” The word tasted bitter on his tongue. “I never meant to lie to you. I was just scared- you have to understand that, right?”
Arthur shoved him again, and Merlin crumpled to the ground, his bindings straining tight against his wrists. “Just… for once in your life, stop talking. I don’t want to hear it.”
Merlin shrank back from his place on the ground. His mind was running wild with the worst possible scenarios- Arthur banishing him, Arthur locking him away, Arthur sending him to the pyre-
Horrified, Merlin’s eyes stung. Arthur hoisted him to his feet. “Get up. We have to cross the river, and then I’ll decide what to do with you.”

Summary

"Jesus Christ" muttered the man. Remus didn't like the look of him. The man was sitting down but clearly very tall, he wore a faded sweatshirt that was more hole than wool and worn corduroy trousers. He had no shoes on but his socks were eaten through by moths. His face and hands were scarred all over by silver jagged lines, his hair was more grey than blonde and his eyes, well, the mans eyes look exactly like his.
