(Post Chapter 6 in Ni No Kuni II: Revenant King)
Roland finds himself coming up with a plan to help Evan and the team bring Ding Dong Dell to sign The Declaration of Interdependence. He can't seem to figure out why Leander is so keen on helping the team out despite being loyal to Hydropolis. Is there something behind the Cloak?I'd suggest going ahead and finishing the game before reading this fiction mostly because I don't want to accidentally spoil anything for anyone. I want this to take place during Chapter 7 when Leander and Roland are creating the plan to sneak into Ding Dong Dell.

Hermes was almost beside himself with excitement! Chthonic gods were fascinating, and the boatman was no exception. He had to get closer, maybe fly in circles around him a few times, or even steal his hat, just to see what the other would do. A partnership with someone far removed from his family sounded exactly like the thing he needed.

The bell above the door rang once more and Sora put on his biggest smile, “Hey, welcome to Dream Drip— oh! It’s you!”
The young man at the door smiled and laughed. “‘You?’ C’mon Sora, I thought you were better than that. You still don’t remember?”
Sora’s heart beat wildly at the words. It wasn’t his fault! Something always happened whenever the young man said his name. The coffee grinder would start suddenly, the bell or phone would ring. Sora’s ears would fill with fuzz and he’d miss the name.
Okay, and maybe there were a few times where Sora was just extremely distracted by sea-green eyes and long silver hair, and a jacket that he just knew was hiding a pair of biceps that would make Sora’s heart ache in both envy and in the desire to be hugged.
Blushing, Sora quickly picked up a cup and a pen. “I’ll get it this time, I swear!”
“I’ll only give you a hint today,” the boy teased, leaning on the counter with one arm. “Starts with an ‘R’.”

Summary
Hermes is getting his first tattoo. He has it all planned out, a golden wing behind his ear, and is excited and anxious for the experience. What he didn’t expect was to become instantly enamored by the ink covered, near silent, tattoo artist at the parlor. What had initially been a plan to get only one tattoo turned into getting some piercings as well. Then coming back for a second. Maybe a third. Soon Hermes is sitting in Charon’s chair for hours long sessions to cover his back and his arms with sleeves of birds and flowers.
Surely not just to see the tattoo artist, of course. Who would do such a thing just to indulge a silly little crush?

“Alright then. And am I buying you one ticket, or two?”
The inevitable question; the one that Hermes dreaded. And then, in a spontaneous moment of stupidity he said,
“Actually, this time I need two tickets. I assume that’s okay?”
There was actually a pause from Zeus at that.
“Oh, I didn’t realise you were seeing someone.”
The modern au where Hermes is almost thirty years old and still single, and to avoid disappointing his family, he tells them he's bringing his new boyfriend to Zeus' 60th birthday celebrations. One problem though: there is no boyfriend. But with the help of his friend Zagreus, Hermes finds a possible candidate to fill the role on a temporary basis: a goth antique dealer by the name of Charon.
