He's hired by Dr. Eggman to kill and bring back the body of Sonic the Hedgehog, famous hero of Empire City. Shadow’s never failed any of his clients before; he gets his jobs done, and he does them well. He's sure it'll be the same this time as well...right?

Immediately after losing his prized Chaos Emerald, when Rouge asks Shadow to go with her to a game night hosted by Sonic, his initial reaction is to say hell no. However, bribery is a powerful tool, and with a great deal of reluctance, Shadow makes a deal with Rouge that if he goes to five of Sonic’s game nights with her, she’ll give him a new Chaos Emerald to replace the one that he lost.
Accidentally kissing Sonic at all five of these games, though, was never part of the plan.

oh. my god. just finished chapter 14 - and holy shit
the BEST king arthur/lancelot fic i've ever read. like..oh my god??? they're literally living in my head rent free right now and I can't omg, this is just written so beautifully with so much intent that I caasdkljaLKJASDLFKJSDLKFAJDSLFKASDFJ, the descriptions, characterization, everything. so gorgeous and so perfectly heartbreaking. I nearly cried when amy revealed that "about time" to sonic and supported his decision, and holy shit just the sonadow dynamic in this is so, SO amazing. oh my oh my THE HYPE WAS...RIGHT????HOLY SHIT
♾️/10 ALLL THE WAY BECUASE LIKE...WOW???not a SINGLE dull moment in this entire story. I enjoyed it fully from start to end (from yesterday work time to today lol) and just wow. I absolutely loved sonadow's dynamic in this one. I LOOOOOOOOOOVED how shadow's character was so...him??? in this and the way he and sonic just UGGGASDJFKADSFALKJ PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT.
