“Like…?” Damian prompts.
“Impossible to say for sure without eyes in the actual room,” Tim says, “Which is why I’m going.”
“As the head of Drake Industries and majority shareholder for Wayne Enterprises?”
“As a hired hand,” Tim corrects, “I stand out too much in my established civilian identity. Waitstaff and caterers overhear much more.”
“And you needed Jason and Richard to accompany you?”
“Oh, no, they’re not involved,” Tim says, gesturing vaguely, “Jason is working out a weapons deal he doesn’t want Bruce to know about, and Dick is meeting up with a booty call.”

Hubert feels like he’s watching himself from outside his body as his gloved hand reaches out, as he drags two fingers down the elegant column Ferdinand’s throat and pulls back his collar, revealing the love bite in full. It stands out as a livid bloom of red. There is another fading mark just underneath. It’s smaller, clearly not made by the same mouth as the first.
“So it’s true,” Hubert says, because surely someone must say something. “I thought it must have only been prurient rumors. But it’s true. You’re really out there- acting like a wanton slut.”

Not that Linhardt would ever submit himself to anything that could be described as insufferable — or even unpleasant, frankly. In fact, Fodlan’s preeminent Crest scholar has made it a point to endure nothing but pleasant things after the war’s end.
It becomes a point of contention.
Come to think of it, Linhardt’s never really been one for contention, either.

Ferdinand Von Aegir did not spend too much time at the opera or reading novels as a child. If his thoughts now ever wander to being tied up by a strikingly handsome adversary (which they do not), it is only because he needs to be prepared with a good strategy, should that ever come to pass. Also, avoiding Hubert is much more difficult at Garreg Mach than it had been in Enbarr.
Hubert prides himself on his powers of intimidation and detection, and Ferdinand is obviously hiding something. It is Hubert's duty to his future Emperor to put a stop to it.
OR: Ferdinand thinks they're in a gothic novel and Hubert thinks they're in a spy thriller. They're both wrong. It's a romantic comedy.

The party. Miklan had only dragged him down the hall, barely rounding a single corner before shoving him down... They’re close enough that Glenn can still hear the swell of the violins, slow and melodic; can faintly hear the chatter of the gathered aristocrats.
They’re close enough that anybody can wander by and see... Goddess, what a scandal that would be.
