“My friend, Yoko, thought we were on a date,” Enid mentions, before picking up her fork. “But I don’t…do that. Not with girls.” She laughs a little bit, but it’s not the same laugh from earlier where she finds it amusing. Forced, like a laughtrack.
“You don’t like girls,” Wednesday repeats, more of an observation than a question.
“Well, of course I like girls,” Enid says, methodically, “in the way they’re meant to be liked. Like, I’ve dated boys, and I hang out with girls, but I know I’m supposed to like boys, so I date them.”
Wednesday’s lungs seize up. The fuck is that supposed to mean?
Alternatively: In 2011, up-and-coming writer Wednesday Addams has found a muse in aspiring actress Enid Sinclair for her latest queer novel, soon to be adapted for screenplay.
Enid claims not to be queer, which shouldn’t matter, since Wednesday is not in love. The rest of their relationship writes itself.

Summer quickly came and went. The students filed back into Nevermore for another year. The crew is back together, but something is different. Wednesday has become extremely popular much to her chagrin. Despite the struggles, Wednesday is relatively content to return. Another year means new cases to solve and she can't wait to start. However, Wednesday starts to notice Enid has a stalker. It seems that danger is already afoot.
Wednesday hopes she can figure out who is targeting Enid and why. But is Enid really the target?

“How have I not noticed all evening how divine your scent is?” She leans lower to bury her nose into Enid’s neck. Her hand smooths down Enid’s face until Wednesday hooks her thumb on the other side of her jaw for enough leverage to wrench her head to the side.
“This was my vision,” Enid says sagely some time later.
By now, Wednesday can barely open her eyes against the onslaught of pain, but she peers up at Enid. “Your...vision?”
Despite the situation at hand, Enid shrugs unhelpfully. “Tried to tell you,” she says in a sing-song voice. “I had a vision of this very moment earlier.”
Wednesday groans through gritted teeth but it ends on a helpless whimper that calls to Enid. “And what is this very moment?” she grounds out.
“Isn’t it obvious?” Enid glances down to the strain beneath the zipper of Wednesday’s pants. “You’re in rut, Wednesday.”

After a summer focused on the Addams family, the Nightshades are receiving their university acceptance letters or preparing for their next steps in life, Pugsley is managing to score a 4.0 and woo half the girls on Nevermore’s campus, and Larissa Weems is taking on her new role in leadership to create balance for Outcasts at large.
It seems like everyone else is getting ahead and making plans for their future, while Wednesday’s visions of it make her wonder what karma has in store for her.
Heavy focus on Wednesday and Enid’s relationship, the Addams Family, mental health, and exploring concepts of community while begrudgingly becoming a leader of one in the sequel to Chaos for the Fly.
