Akechi blinks at them, mouth falling open. “I—“ He stops. Inhales. “I didn’t think we’d be bringing in things like this,” he clears his throat and looks away. The tips of his ears are a beautiful pink color.
Akira goes over to Akechi, runs his hands over the flat plain of his stomach. He leans forward, hearing and adoring the way Akechi’s breath hitches. “Like I said. I’ve got plans,” and with a mouth inches away from Akechi’s, he drops his voice to a whisper, “I’ve wanted to do this to you for so long.”

“It’s fine,” Akira comments. He puts a hand on Goro’s shoulder. Goro, startled by the sudden physical touch, instantly snaps his head back to him. His eyes look at the hand on him, back to Akira’s face, and then seem to settle there. With all the charm he can summon from Joker without the aid of the Metaverse, he says, “What’s a few kisses between friends?”
Goro’s expression flattens out. There’s a flash of an unnamable something in his eyes, but it’s gone just as quick as it came. He gnaws on his bottom lip. “Is that,” he coughs a little into his hand, “something you do with your other friends often, then?”
He doesn’t look pleased at the thought, and it makes Akira want to laugh. “Do they press me against flat surfaces and kiss me out of the blue?” He shakes his head, a smile on his face, “I can’t say they do.”

Summary
Goro’s birthday was going to be special. He was turning nine this year! That’s almost double digits, which means he’s practically a teenager. Which means he’s practically an adult. So he’s basically a grown man now.
Akechi’s birthday was going to be special. He was turning nineteen this year. He’s an adult now. A full grown man. He’s one year older than he should be. He should have died at eighteen years old, body discarded in a world different from their own. He wasn’t even something close to a hero, at least he doesn’t think so. He sacrificed himself for others, but martyrdom was never really his style.
One birthday, separated by ten years.

“You brought a friend,” is what she says. Her face is carefully blank as she watches Goro’s coworkers send each other glances that Goro pretends he doesn’t see.
“Pleased to meet you,” Goro says and lays on the charm because fuck, he wants to make a good impression.
She makes a complicated expression, eyebrows pinching together and pursing her lips. Only for a moment, though, before her expression hardens into something determined and understanding. She ends up smirking, dark red lips parting to reveal a flash of dangerous sharp teeth. Goro’s head is reeling. “Nice to meet you,” She says, extending a single gloved hand toward him to shake.

After she left, and Armand had pet the sweaty hair away from Daniel's forehead to look into his eyes, he searched again for thoughts, for images. Please, please, Daniel was thinking. Please what? But he knew, and with a little smile he gave Daniel the Blood from his tongue this time. Armand had yet to take his drink, but he wanted to reward the boy. The performance had been resplendent.

Morgana turns his skeptical gaze on him. “Are you sure? You weren’t feeling so great earlier...”
Akechi watches their target for a moment longer, and the illusion of his soft yukata and softer hair dispels under his glass shard of a smile. There isn’t a trace of pain on his face anymore—only simmering, dark excitement. “As I said. I don’t like to lose.”
And neither does Ren. Yeah, they’re head to toe in yukata and sandals, and yeah, everyone is right: this is so, so stupid. Ren is so stupid. But he’s gonna climb this roof and catch that goddamn cop.
He meets Akechi’s gaze beat for beat. “Let’s do it.”

Who says you have to see Morgana speak in the Metaverse before you can hear him in the real world? Not the few hundred officers who arrested Ren in Sae’s Palace two years ago, that’s for sure.
