Dazai looks nervous, and Chuuya can’t crack why. He definitely looks wrong, though, like he’s about to jump out of his skin.
Which does happen when something makes a particularly loud noise outside. Dazai’s head whips in that direction, his whole body tenses, and he clutches the plushie in his arms like letting it go would mean sudden death.
“You’re scared,” Chuuya realizes. “You’re scared of this, why didn’t you tell me?”
/or: dazai is scared of sleeping in the woods so chuuya cuddles him to sleep

Summary
Dazai orders two cabs - one for Atsushi, and one for him and Ranpo; Atsushi doesn’t have it in him to either insist Dazai doesn’t pay for him, or be surprised that Dazai is actually paying for him. The car Dazai ordered for himself arrives first, so Atsushi bids them both a tired farewell; the last he sees of them, Dazai is packing up a half-lucid Ranpo into the cab.
Before the door shuts, Atsushi catches a glimpse of Ranpo lying his head down into Dazai’s lap. He’s too tired to think too much of it, though.or: five times Atsushi doesn't connect the dots about Ranpo and Dazai, and the time it gets spelled out to him.

“You’re kind of annoying, you know that,” Chuuya said, voice flat. ‘Kind of’ being an understatement.
“I’ve been told,” Dazai returned, eyes bright.
They were suddenly very close— almost intimately so. Dazai’s long frame crowding him against the wall of books, his arms crossed politely behind his back.
He breathed. Dazai breathed. Silence.
Without thought, his hands wandered towards the thin, stone-hard edges of Dazai’s waist. Curled them there, felt the warmth of him. Dazai didn’t speak— didn’t look like he could, and Chuuya found himself somehow enthralled by the sorrowful sort of depth in his eyes.
