The Forest Watcher takes everything in stride and sets his mind to helping Kaveh figure out a solution to his intimate problem. However, things quickly get heated between them, and Kaveh can't help but ask for more.
What started out as just a desperate attempt to get his body back to the way he's always known it to be, somehow ends up with Kaveh spread out across the bedsheets with three of his best friends showing him exactly how to enjoy this change while it lasts.

Alhaitham squeezes his arms tighter around Kaveh, clinging to him like a bramble’s thorns. He’s reminded of his first rut as a teenager, when the world was suddenly far too loud and bright and noisome; back then, he’d curled up in bed and clung to a pillow just like this, utterly disoriented, uselessly willing the sensory overload to cease.
“I’m sorry this is so overwhelming for you,” Kaveh murmurs. “I wish—I wish I were better suited for you, like an omega, or even a beta—”
“No,” Alhaitham says, his nails digging into Kaveh’s skin. Even though he’d had that same lament a few moments ago, the thought sounds repugnant now that he’s heard it spoken out loud. “I want you. The way you are.”

Beautiful, he wants to say, the word saccharine on the tip of his tongue. His initial assumptions are false—no marble pillar can shiver as beautifully as this miracle of flesh and muscles and tendons, wonderfully reactive. Kaveh wants to take him apart, unravel the threads of his relentless rationality until nothing remains of him but this humanity, all this softness that does not quite fit right with the rest of him.
