‘What was that?’ Ratio demands as soon as the hotel room door shuts behind them.
Aventurine takes off his jacket, deliberately slow. He gives it a second before responding: ‘For someone who claims to despise formality, you aren’t very specific with your words, Doctor.’
Unfortunately, Ratio does not rise to the bait. ‘You know well what I’m talking about,’ he grits. ‘We run into your colleagues and suddenly I’m a stranger to you?’
‘Look, I don’t understand what you’re so worked up about,’ Aventurine says coolly, folding his jacket over an arm. ‘It’s just appearances, business things. You wouldn’t understand.’
Aventurine refuses to announce their relationship to his colleagues. Ratio decides to fuck the fight out of him.

He blinks.
