Summary
This time, it’s different. This time he’s not thinking about himself, about fake niceties and clenched teeth that mimick a smile. He’s thinking about Gojo Satoru, about snappy retorts and bitter sneers and small circular sunglasses.
Just maybe, the two of them are more alike than he thought. Maybe their masks are just painted with different designs. A sneer and a smile. Both baring their teeth. Masks they wake up every day and choose to plaster on because they’re what works, not because they’re comfortable or truthful.
Maybe even because of how untruthful they are.

Summary
The thought of someone else having such direct access to his emotions, basically his thoughts… To this day it makes him cringe a little.
Okay, maybe he has some commitment issues. Sue him.
But he’s fine. Commitment is overrated anyways. Obviously the universe had it out for him specifically when it created this whole stupid secondary-sex system, where the ultimate declaration of care and adoration requires him to crack open his own ribcage and offer his beating heart on a platter. To say explicitly: Here. This is yours. Destroy this, destroy me, if you’d like to. You’re the only one who can.

Summary
He stops in front of the door, breathing heavily through his mouth. His mind completely blanks, and for a second he thinks it’s all the running; the lack of oxygen is starting to catch up to him. He feels lightheaded. But then he takes in another breath, through his nose this time, and he smells it.
Satoru’s scent is fairly light. Normally. Ozone and something electric, like the smell of wet air after lightning strikes a bit too close for comfort. Muted. Definitely not the type of thing Suguru can usually smell through a door.
That’s still there, barely. But it’s different now.

For the first time since Gumiho had stepped under the rope, Romance remembered he was there with other people. He glanced over at Abby, who was staring in the direction of the ring with the same awestruck expression Romance was sure had just been on his own face.
“Yeah, same page.” He breathed out, glancing back towards the ring. When he looked back, Abby was staring at him with a grin that he quickly returned. It was like a moment of unspoken agreement, a vow that passed like electricity between all the places their shoulders and thighs touched. A silent understanding.
Whatever it took, they were gonna make her want them as bad as they wanted her.

Immediately, his eyes widen, fright keeping him locked in place, hands unable to even curl into a fist as he watches the man reach behind his back.
“Red would look good on you.” This is the exact opposite of Christmas, Gojo filled to the brim with dread as the man ever so slowly reveals what he was hiding. Under the bright ceiling light overhead, the blade of the knife glints. He sees his reflection, terror swimming in his eyes as he lowers it, the sharp edge looming closer and closer to the side of his face. “Guess I’ll see for myself, hm?”
Gojo has a a terrible encounter with his boyfriend at a Halloween party.

Summary
There’s nothing scary about haunted houses, Satoru thinks - the only things he has to fear in life are the impossible standards his parents have set for him, the sell-by dates on his favorite desserts, and bad hair days, and so he reluctantly agrees when the rest of the group decides to get together for Halloween.
But then Suguru shows up to the party with his fucking girlfriend in tow, and Satoru realizes maybe he’s not so fearless as he’d like to believe.

Suguru at least has the grace to look a little ashamed. “Yeah,” he admits. “Pretty much.”
Shoko does not have a large enough liver to metabolize the alcohol she needs to deal with these two chucklefucks.
Nor does she have a large enough heart to hold their hands and gently lead them in the right direction, which is why she just sucks down a mouthful of smoke, holds it in her lungs until it starts to burn, and then turns her head to the side and blows it all out in one harsh plume before she announces, “Satoru thinks you’re going to dump him.”
Suguru blanches. “He what?”
Shoko Ieiri cannot emphasize this enough, but - her best friends are idiots.

“Don’t be a dick. I’m just trying to figure out how to say it without freaking you out.”
Suguru snorts. “I’d be a lot less freaked out if you just came out and said it.”
“Would you, though?”
He bites back a sigh, his eyes momentarily flicking up to the ceiling. “Manami.”
“Suguru,” she spits back.
“What, is the guy fucking yakuza or something?”
Silence. Dead fucking silence.
Suguru’s gaze jerks back down to Manami, who is very pointedly twirling a strand of her pink hair around a finger as she studies the nail polish on her other hand. It’s both painfully disinterested and absolutely forced, and Suguru chokes out a sound that is somewhere between a gasp and a groan.
“Manami,” he asks. “Did you book me to tattoo a fucking gangster?”
Or, Suguru Geto gets hired to do a very specific tattoo, is inducted into the Japanese mafia, and gets himself a very strange murder boyfriend, in that order.
