“Are you… good?” Trinity was too tired to find a more tactful way to ask. “Because the whole sitting by yourself in a freezing cold park thing is kinda, you know, a red flag.”
Samira let out a harsh puff of air that wasn’t quite a laugh, another stream of mist hovering between them. “The next bus isn’t for twenty minutes and I thought it’d be nicer to wait here than at the bus stop on the street corner. And if it’s such a red flag, what are you doing here?”
“I needed some fresh air after that shift,” Trinity admitted and Samira gave her a look of understanding. “And I can give you a ride if you want?”
After a rough shift, Trinity brings Samira home with her.

Summary
“You’ve been ignoring me,” Yolanda tilted her chin down toward Trinity’s ear.
“Can you fucking blame me?” Trinity yelled over the pulsing music. The surprise on her face had been replaced with an indignant expression.
Yolanda really couldn’t blame her, not with the way they’d left things on the fourth.
Dropping her hand from Trinity’s wrist, she said, “I can leave you alone if you want. You can chase down that blonde and apologize and take her home for what I'm sure will be incredibly mediocre sex, based on that kiss I saw.”
Trinity glared at her as the lights flashed across her face, pink, green, blue.
“You have some fucking nerve,” Trinity said, stepping closer. “Was rejecting me multiple times over a single shift not enough? You have to swoop in and ruin my attempts to move on too?”
After several days of no contact, Yolanda runs into Trinity at the club.

“There you are,” Trinity said as soon as Dennis was close. She reached out and threaded an arm around his waist, throwing him a look that was clearly begging him to play along. It only took him a moment to get with the program and wrap his own arm around her waist.
“Sorry I was gone so long, it’s busy in here tonight,” he said, glancing at the guy who’d been bothering her.
Her free hand came to rest on his chest and he tried not to stiffen under how strange the touch felt. “Brad over here was starting to believe you didn’t exist,” Trinity said, voice tight as she glared at the guy, Brad apparently, who threw his hands up and took a half-step back.
After an unsettling encounter at the bar, Trinity tells Dennis about her past.

Summary
Trinity had broken her own vow to never get involved with another coworker when Parker had asked her out. She was only human, after all.
Things with Parker were good, solid. Trinity never had to double check if their plans were still on, Parker had actually seemed deeply confused the first few times Trinity had texted her to make sure she should still come over, so she’d stopped. Parker also always seemed to remember what Trinity liked when they ordered takeout and she insisted on paying for everything.
She was still trying to get used to it. If she was being honest, she was still waiting for the other shoe to drop.
No one was ever this nice to her for this long unless they wanted something.
