Rumi shrugs, feeling raw and exposed in the way she always does after kneeling for them.
She considers the question: she just wasn’t brought up that way. There was never any need for praise or affirmation as a form of encouragement. Not when there were other forms so readily available – imminent choking forms, creeping steadily across her body.

"Now that you mention it, though, there is something you could do for me.” He can feel the heat of her eyes through the screen, xenon blue and twinkling with mischief. She’s nibbling at her lower lip with one sharp white canine tooth. He scratches absently at the side of his neck and tries to recall how long it’s been since he last sported a bruise in the shape of her mouth.
“Oh?” he asks. The tips of his ears feel warm. “And what might that be? Surely nothing that’ll catch you a public indecency charge, I hope.”
“Please,” she scoffs, turning her head so he can see she's got her earbuds in. “As if. They just came by for last rounds, no one’s due in here ‘til morning. The door’s shut, I’m being quiet. They’re understaffed tonight, and they keep calling code grays for the poor guy three doors down. They’ve got their hands full.”
“Good lord,” he says mildly. “Have I told you lately that you’re insane?”
“You have,” she says, sweetly undeterred. Then, batting her lashes as if she hadn’t won already: “Please, kitten?"
“Fuck it,” he says, cheeks hot. "Deal me in."

Summary
The client hadn’t really requested anything at all; their emails had been almost overly polite, if not jarringly formal, and had selected only the most vanilla options on the questionnaire she provided. Certainly a far cry from the standard practices of her usual clientele, but this one had paid upfront and picked this expensive hotel, and Mira’s fees are dear enough on their own that she had been coloured intrigued.
Mira takes a left down the hallway after leaving the elevator and finds herself at the door to the room. She doesn’t steel herself—doesn’t need to. She can handle anything. Has handled most things. Mira swipes the keycard and lets herself in.
The person sitting on the bed is probably the last thing she expects.
In which Mira is a professional, Rumi is socially inept, and Zoey is also there. Let's hope nobody catches feelings.

When Zoey said she was ‘sending help over’, Mira thought she meant packets of her favorite instant ramyeon, the kind that’s too spicy for literally anyone else but her to like, and maybe some electrolyte sticks and some packs of instant porridge for when her stomach is too unsettled for anything else, along with a cooling patch or two and some Ibuprofen to help with the aches. She expected the usual kind of care package Zoey would send her when she knows she’s too stubborn to ask for help or to be looked after but desperately needs it anyway.
Mira didn’t think Zoey meant she was sending her girlfriend over to fuck her until she finally stops dripping like a broken faucet with all of her unsatisfied need.

Rumi’s mouth opened. Closed. Then opened again.
The words stuck in her throat like thorns.
I’m scared that I’ll be bad at this. I’m scared that you’ll get tired of having to do everything. I’m scared that because I’ve never done anything like this before, you’re going to be disappointed in me…
She squeezed her eyes shut before blurting out in one breath—
“I don’t know how to make you come—!”
Silence.
Rumi wanted to die.

“Don’t worry, baby. You know we can handle you being bratty if that’s what you need,” Zoey purred from her seat on the bed, sending a shiver through Mira’s body.

Rumi considered it—she normally gave in quickly—but the way she’d looked at her before she kissed her neck, and the way she’d reacted to Rumi threatening to leave and finish herself off, was echoing around her brain. She was forming a theory, and she needed to test it.
She hooked a finger under Mira’s choker, pressing her knuckle gently against her throat, and tugged. She felt more than heard the way it made Mira’s breath hitch. She did it again, and this time Mira’s nails dug in deeper involuntarily.
Which was a very interesting reaction.
While Zoey's away Mira learns something new about Rumi.
