Summary
In 1916, word of his son’s death makes its way back to Roderick Burgess from the war front. A man of wealth and influence, Burgess vows to bring his son back and that very same year successfully summons one of the Endless. Alas, he fails to summon his intended target, Death, and instead finds himself with an, at first, seemingly useless Endless, Dream, who holds no power over life and death. Who is powerless to return his son to him. Unwaveringly determined, Burgess uncovers Dream’s other names: Lord Shaper and Shaper of Forms; and not long after, the means to bind his captive Endless’ form. The means to reshape the Shaper of Forms. The means to bring his son back to him by any means necessary.

Summary
A chance encounter in the woods sees Temiquiliztli (Dream) claimed by the god Quetzalcoatl (Hob) as one of his true priests. Unfortunately, when the god insists they travel to the heart of the Aztec empire— the great city, Tenochtitlan — for him to observe his creations more closely and experience life as one of them, they could not have anticipated the dark plot festering at the heart of the city and which would ensnare them. Not everyone at the temple of Quetzalcoatl is who they seem and when Hob’s true nature is uncovered, not only are the god and his priest in danger, the whole world might be as well.
