“Got it,” Dean says, nodding, because he can work with this. “Yeah. Sure. So give me some truths. Some stupid little ones.”
Cas narrows his eyes. “Such as?”
“Like, I dunno, what’s your favorite color?”
Cas’s face somehow goes stonier. “Green,” he ekes out.
Dean clears his throat. Blinks a few times. “Oh.”

Summary
Dean Winchester is on the run from the cops after a series of petty crimes. While looking for a place to hide, he catches the eye of his former junior college classmate, the socially awkward Castiel Shurley, and asks to crash at the Shurleys’ house.
Unbeknownst to Cas, Dean is the face behind John Q. Public—the anonymous frontman of a local punk band—with whom he has been sending suggestive photographs and love poems for the last few years under a pseudonym.
But secret identities are the least of their worries when the police are closing in, the band’s next show is drawing near, and the Shurleys refuse to let Cas fly the coop. They grow close as they rail against the expectations that stifle them both, teaching each other what it means to be a real punk rocker.

Helluva good fic; really dig the emotion, that familiarity in the writing of dean’s internal self & despair & exploration, the reality of the messiness & joy of relationships. Also so happy with how present and well-characterized Sam is (and everyone, tbh, but I always love seeing Sam having a solid place in a destiel fic).
