“Before Betty can take the chance to ask what’s going on, Veronica’s thumb nudges her upper lip open wider and skims over her teeth. A forefinger slips deeper, nudges her soft palate before trailing down the inside of a canine. A disoriented heat flares in Betty’s stomach—Veronica’s fingers are in her mouth—at odds with the receding sickness.
She breathes shallowly through her nose and doesn’t move an inch. The situation was already spiraling so far out of her control, but she was handling it. This is something she has no idea how to handle.
‘You have fangs,’ Veronica says, baffled. ‘Like, honest-to-god Dracula fangs.’”

“A little hazy, he keeps at it, scrubbing hard at the backs of his hands, over fragile bone and tendon. He scrubs up his arms and down his chest, going over every bit of skin once, twice, three times.
He doesn’t stop until his skin his pink and raw and angry. The water, long since gone tepid, leaning towards cool, burns where it touches. And what’s above the surface doesn’t feel any better. All over, it hurts. Yet, all the same, it helps clear the strange fog that has been rolling into his mind. Everything stings, but he feels more like himself again. Scrubbed raw but stripped of the nagging sense of wrong clinging to him.

“Wiping his palm on his pants first, Hitoshi lays his hand atop Todoroki’s, lets their fingers be laced together. He isn’t really sure where this is going. Or why Todoroki holds his hand like he might hold glass, all precious and cautious about it. Hitoshi’s more accustomed to the way Denki grabs and tugs, pulling him along to see whatever’s got his eyes sparkling, or whining at him to hurry up and come to bed. It’s familiar and fond, but it’s not gentle. Todoroki is entirely opposite. And the way he tenderly presses the back of Hitoshi’s hand to his forehead and holds it close bites at all the tender spaces in Hitoshi’s chest. He can feel that longing radiating off of Todoroki again, soft puffs of breath brushing his wrist.
‘I think this is what I needed,’ Todoroki says in a quiet rasp.”

Summary
This is cosmic retribution for stepping into Cheryl’s closet with Archie Andrews--of that, Veronica is sure. Either that, or the Kimberly-Clark Corporation has succumbed to capitalism and released a virus specifically to target Riverdale so as to sell more boxes of Kleenex, but the conspiracy theories are best left to Jughead.
All Veronica knows is as follows: one, she is the worst kind of friend; two, Cheryl is worthy of Disney film villainy; three, it serves Archie right that he has whatever plague is currently tormenting half of Riverdale High; and four, Veronica deserves to be suffering right along with him.
