Summary
Marcel moves to the island of Yolk on a whim.
He makes friends quick, but something is very wrong with this place. The social web of his new home is more complex that he could have expected. And the other villagers are strange. He descends into panic during the first week, because the more he adjusts, the more he discovers awry. He has no way to contact the outer world and no way to keep track of time.
The aloof yet alluring Resident Representative is unusual and untrustworthy. Marcel's curiosity begins to burn a hole in him, and town gossip only gets him so far.
Underneath the surface of the simple life offered on this sanctuary is something keeping Marcel awake at night, something that will put his survival skills to the test. He discovers who he can and cannot trust, and learns that deep secrets are being passed behind him.
Later on, the community he thought he was beginning to know unravels completely.
