Norman isn’t listening to his uncle Peter ramble about the necessity that Norman be sorted into Slytherin for two main reasons.
First, he doesn’t really care about what his uncle has to say about anything at all whatsoever. To Norman, Peter Ratri is about as important as a particularly annoying little gnat. This is the most important reason.
