Summary
When Dean’s best friend Charlie suggests that he take a course on fiction at the local college, he decides to give it a try. Thinking it could be beneficial for his job at the library and also give him the inspiration he needs to continue writing, Dean signs up for Professor Novak’s Science Fiction and Fantasy class. What he wasn't expecting was for the professor to be a fantasy himself. All sex hair, black liner, and tattooed in poetry, Dean is lucky he can swallow in his teacher’s presence, let alone speak sanely and intelligently. He may be the oldest student in the class, but Professor Novak merely has to look at Dean with those deep blue eyes lined in black kohl to turn him into a stuttering teenager with a crush.
Luckily for Dean, Professor Novak doesn't seem to mind at all.

“I’ll make you a deal,” Castiel said in lieu of answering his question and laughed when Dean’s brows shot up in surprise. Clearly, his change in attitude was unexpected.
“Oh yeah?” Dean's bright green eyes held amused interest. “What kind of deal?”
“We continue on as we have been the last few months; hanging out, getting to know each other and after six months if you still feel about me the way I know I'll still feel about you, you agree to date me.”

Summary
It’s 1985 and to say that Dean is relieved when his summer job at the local camp comes to an end would be an egregious understatement. There are about a million different ways he would have rather spent his summer than by being the maladjusted, weird guy that all his coworkers avoid. Nevertheless, in a poor effort to fit in, Dean decides to attend the annual celebration that his fellow counselors organize at the end of every camp season. It isn’t supposed to be anything special, simply a standard party with shitty vodka, late-night skinny dipping, and make-your-ears-bleed soft rock.
As it turns out, the hockey-mask-adorned, machete-wielding killer who crashes it has other plans—and no one is prepared for the horrors the night will bring.

It is gentle, comparatively speaking to Cas’s actual strength, that is, but it’s a solid weight against his neck that makes Dean feel floaty; the sound of his own breath fading out for a moment.
“Do not lie to me, Dean Winchester.” The hand tightens just the tiniest bit, and Dean’s mouth drops open. “I could do this for the next week and a half and not even break a sweat.” He lets go, and oxygen and blood rush back in so quickly Dean feels dizzy. “What did you say, beloved?”

"I had to draw all them perfectly," Cas insists, and Dean suddenly can't get rid of the image of Cas, clutching on to a Crayola washable marker, jamming it into his skin forcefully like a little kid mashes his markers on the paper in a vehement attempt to make the color deeper.
"And now you're insulted 'cause I don't appreciate 'em?" Dean asks, bewildered.
"No," Cas lies petulantly.
"Huh." The stubborn child version of Cas Dean has painted in his mind is now clutching his paper possessively, shielding it from scrutiny.
They drive in silence for a while.
"Thank you for making my freckles," Dean grouses finally, knowing that it's the only way Cas will forgive him.

Summary
When Dean’s grief is loud enough to wake him in The Empty, the entity casts Castiel out, but not without a price. He comes to in a barn in Pontiac, Illinois, with no memory of who or what he is. With nothing but an initial on the back of a photograph, and his heart’s instinct telling him to head west, Castiel begins a journey of self-discovery.
Meanwhile, Dean is a broken shell. Rather than live under his brother and Eileen's pitying and concerned gaze, Dean decided it was time to move out of the bunker. With Jody’s help, Dean moves into a small lake house just outside of Sioux Falls, where he can mourn in peace and in his own time. Dean is determined to be better for Cas, even if it’s too little too late.
