“I wish that our clan isn’t at war,” Hashirama tells Madara quietly, eyes fixed on the treeline past the river. No man’s land and Uchiha territory. The worst of the battlefields. “If there was peace, Anija wouldn’t have to fight. I know he’s strong, but it hurts him every time. He’s really sick. Every time he leaves to fight, he comes back worse.”
Madara doesn’t say anything. Not right away. He skips a few more stones across the river, back tense, and abruptly he folds down to sit next to Hashirama. He fiddles with his cuffs. “Izu-nii hasn’t been the same since he started fighting either,” he admits, voice gruff. “Not since Nee-chan died.”

Before they discovered that the Greater Will had abandoned them, their father brought Miquella and Malenia to the foot of the Erdtree to gaze upon the splendor of grace. Miquella was still small enough to carry; Malenia was too proud to admit that she was too. Instead, she clung to her father’s fingers, strong and warm in the mountain chill, and when her little fist tightened its grip, her father looked down at her and smiled.
His hair was fiery scarlet, just like hers.
