When Bachira smiles, a single dimple appears on the left side of his cheek, Isagi notices, and it makes his smile appear a bit lopsided. It’s kind of endearing.
“You don’t have any friendship bracelets,” Bachira quips, bringing Isagi’s wrist close to his face, like he might find an invisible bracelet there.
“Um, no. I don’t,” Isagi stammers, and Bachira cocks his head to the side.
“We’ll have to change that now, won’t we!” He lets go of Isagi’s wrist, and Isagi can still feel the phantom warmth of Bachira’s palm against his skin.

For a split-second, he sees his monster, curled up in a chair outside with that familiar smile; the smile that tells Bachira to fuck it all up. He’s nearly jealous—while Bachira gets to sit here and contemplate everything he’s ever felt, the monster gets to have it made in the shade, lounging on the deck. In his head, he imagines his monster with some fruity little drink, miniature umbrella and all.
“This is awesome,” Isagi proclaims after a couple of quiet moments, mostly filled with fumbling and small talk. All of their bags cover the ground Isagi stands on while Bachira is nearly kissing the back window. “I take it you’re enjoying the scenery?”
Wordless, Bachira nods. “It’s beautiful, Isagi. I can’t wait to spend a week here.” With you.
Over night swims, trail walks, and golden sunrises, Bachira makes a... discovery.
