Shane and Ilya’s careers on the ice, live tweeted. Also they’re married.
NHL commissioner tries to get them to now come out. He ends up resigning. All the boys sign an open letter written by Scott Hunter saying essentially they don’t condone homophobia!!
Ilya’s brother Andrei/Alexei slanders Ilya’s name in an interview. Ilya hits him back with the “my family in Canada”
Someone in the same coffeeshop as Ilya thinks he’s sexting some woman named “Jane”; people learn how to mind their business.
The Voyageurs, Shane’s old team, assign his old number 24 to a rookie. Ilya has some things to say to the press about the way Shane was treated by the Voyageurs both while he played for them and after.
Ilya is fined $5000 after hitting a player for saying terrible things to Shane.
The NHL tires to introduce a new rule against PDA that seems to target Shane and Ilya and others, and it goes south fast. All because of a kiss between them when winning the Stanley cup!!!

Ilya and Shane are married and Ilya joins Twitter. Fic featuring many friends and family tweeting with and about them, and photos and screenshots of text threads. Chapter 4 is about a fan/stalker filming them outside a rink, supposedly having an “argument”. The fan is asked to stop several times, and Shane and Ilya have to publicly tell people that Ilya was upset cause Shane doesn’t like Cars and The Fast and the Furious franchise.

“The Same But Different” by furyred
Ilya goes to Shane’s house and they have a nice few days there. Shane has learned how to say “I love you” in Russian after he uses “ily” in a text and Ilya doesn’t know what it means. Ilya is touched by Shane learning that, and says he would’ve taught him if he asked. Shane says he wanted it to be a surprise.
Next chapter is Shane going to Ilya’s house, where Ilya surprise him with a blanket he bought Shane. Ilya makes them lunch and makes Shane take off his Metros sweater and neatly folds it. He takes a phone call from Svetlana. They speak in Russian; Shane isn’t able to hear what they’re saying, he only sees it’s Svetlana and gets a little jealous. Ilya explains what she was calling about, and suggests that Shane and he and Svetlana get dinner some time, to clear any tensions. They discuss how/if/when they want to come out, because they know Svetlana knows. Very cute and soft!!!

“…what?” Shane asks, reminding himself rather forcibly of a similar what? in a bathroom many years ago.
Perhaps it reminds Ilya too, because he slips his thigh between Shane’s, gives Shane just enough pressure as a promise—and kisses him, deep and loving, like he didn’t that night after the bathroom.
“For once,” Ilya says, big hand sturdy on Shane’s jaw, “we do not have anywhere else to be.”
“I can think of somewhere you need to be.”
Ilya chuckles, low in his throat, and Shane’s cock clenches. His heart thunders in his chest, arousal needling hot through his veins.
“Yes,” Ilya says. “But I can finally take my time with you.”
