Summary
Scott and Jimmy have been close friends since they were kids - social hierarchies were irrelevant then.
As they grow up, however, Jimmy must pay closer attention to his princely duties and Scott's place as his servant is made clear.
When word of the "sleeping seductress" lands at the kingdom gates years later, Jimmy is just one of many princes sent to wake her with a kiss - "think of the political gain we can get from an alliance with the moon kingdom, James," his father reminds him.
But when Scott is the one to wake the princess, not with a kiss, but with a pale of water, things get irrevocably more complicated...

Avid stumbled back against the wall, getting as much distance as possible without leaving the room.
“You brought a vampire into our dorm!?”
“Avid.” Drift sounded exasperated.
She was sympathetic to his concerns, but she never actually believed him when he discussed vampires being real–because they were.
“It’s not a vampire, its just a poor little bat that was caught in the storm.”
“Yeah–a vampire bat!”

Or, Scott crashes into Avid and Drift's dorm window during a very strong storm, and Avid is having a time.
In which Avid is absolutely right about his accusations, yet (canon-typical) no one believes him.

Summary
Thirty years ago, Xornoth was possessed by Exor. After killing their parents and rising to the throne, they imprisoned their brother, unable to kill him without killing themself.
But now, they've figured out a way to dispose of him. Send him to an arranged marriage with their oldest enemy, the Ocean Empire, and let them deal with him however they see fit. With thousands of years of tension between the two kingdoms, it won't be long before they decide they don't want him around anymore.
Jimmy just wants peace for his people. And if marrying some recluse prince is the key to finally ending the feud between their empires, he'll do it. But his new fiance is far from what he was expecting, and slowly he begins to wonder if there is something more sinister going on within the walls of the isolated elven kingdom.

Summary
He knows the rules of course. They aren’t supposed to have any sort of relationship beyond allies or tentative friends. Scott’s advisors look down on his smaller and ‘less developed’ empire and are incredibly strict about traditions and what-not, Jimmy’s not really sure, he zoned out while it was being explained. The Cod Council on the other hand are wary of the secretive elves and distrust the alliances Rivendell has with their enemies. This means that despite whatever the two feel for each other, feelings borne from featherlight touches, secret smiles and a cave tucked away inside a mountain nothing can be, at least not easily.
Despite all of that and more Jimmy is still on his way to Rivendell to ask the Elvenking to visit the Cod empire. Which is very much not a date if anyone asks and very much was a date when he planned it.
