“And Mondstadt?” Kaeya asked softly.
The Herald tilted its head. “What of it?”
Something bitter rose in Kaeya’s throat. He forced it down, jaw tightening.
“They are attacking my city,” he said. “My people. Innocents who have nothing to do with Celestia’s crimes.”
The Herald’s voice remained even. “Collateral.”
Kaeya flinched.
“Your city will fall eventually. With or without you.”

Likewise, the only way Dan Heng can hope to keep his identity intact is by distancing himself from irrelevant data. The past that isn't his stays shut in a box on the bottom shelf, and if someone else moves it into view, Dan Heng will put it back where it belongs. "Not… the kind of control you're thinking about, anyway."
