Summary
It’s a complicated thing to have a heart that beats. Or, no, maybe a better way to say it is that it’s complicated to have a heart that beats for someone. How do you deal with that? How can you make peace with the fact that your blood pumps, not because of human survival or some other rational bullshit, but because of something as devastatingly frail as love?
You don’t. Maybe that’s the answer. You just let love keep you alive, and force your veins to keep going when love proves to be an unstable methodology.
And then what? What happens thereafter?
Nothing. You deal. You won’t die, but fuck if it doesn’t feel like you are.

Summary
She couldn’t save Ha-yeong from the fall of their parents, but she’ll be damned if she couldn’t save her from this.
The door breaks down, Ha-na is too out of it to panic. Hands clutch her arms and her ears ring.
Eyes unfocused, dilated pupils. She hears someone say while a light shines in her eyes. Too low, too masculine to be Ha-yeong. He says a name, and someone else spurs into action. Ha-yeong’s voice is far away now. They must’ve taken her somewhere else. That’s good.
Before she goes, she gets one last view of her savior, the man who saved Ha-yeong from Ha-na. He’ll be the last face she’ll ever see.
Ha-na cried in Wi-gen’s arms for what seemed like forever. Her words echoed in her head, at the cost of your own life, you saved that little girl. You saved your sister.
(or, alternatively, the one where do ha-yeong lives, and do ha-na becomes a counter four years after she falls into a coma.)

The girl was thirteen. Prim’s age. Dessy Hollsworth, a short, scrawny little thing. The Hollsworth’s weren’t from the Seam and they’d kept out of the mines, but they were a family of clothes makers and menders with a bad habit of procreation. With six kids (not to mention a seventh on the way), Dessy was the first to reach Reaping age and Katniss had to imagine she’d taken tesserae.
The girl tried very hard not to cry as she walked on stage and mostly did a poor job of it.
The boy was seventeen, which was slightly easier to watch, except that made him the same age as Katniss. She knew him. From classes, back when she attended those. Bren Fox. He was a Seam kid. A son of a miner who was the son of a miner who would one day have a kid who was the son of a miner.
Well, not anymore.

"Oh" she hadn't meant to let it out, but there was no changing that she had, and the small noise she made was enough for both men to snap and look at her, and she her eyes locked onto the wide and shocked ones of her brother.”
Or, Eloise accidentally stumbles on her brother kissing another man, and this leads her down a path of confusion and realization. Benedict finds her on the swings afterwards, and they both learn new things about themselves and each other.
(Ft. Happy little gay ending for Eloise in epilogue form bc she DESERVES IT)
