Summary
“I’m all for positive reinforcement, darlin’,” Cobb offers, all warm voice and drawling desert accent. “And you’ve done real good, thinking about my feelings and doing something for me. So, what if I did a little thing for you, uh? Would you like that?”
Din’s sigh is a mixture of resignation and determination. “We’ll miss the hearing.”
“I can make it quick.”

Summary
“I am beroya,” Din says, shrugging, as if it’s no big deal, as if he didn’t fight his whole life for this honour. (As if he didn’t lose Paz over the title.) “I protect the covert. They always come first. I have the freedom – so my needs don’t matter. Medicine, shelter, food; if I can’t supply those for my tribe, then I don’t deserve to enjoy them either.”
after cobb vanth gets shot by a renegade during the spice war, din djarin deals with the guilt of not protecting the one man he'd trust with his life and his son's.

Summary
"Things started to gain momentum near the end of shift change, in that strange pocket of time when chaos loosened its grip just enough for exhaustion to settle in. Robby leaned against the counter beside Jack, shoulder brushing shoulder and neither of them moving away.
“You busy tonight?” Robby asked lightly, eyes on the board instead of Jack.
Too light. Too casual. Too deliberate.
Jack didn’t look at him immediately. He finished signing off a chart and set the pen down carefully. Let silence stretch just long enough to make the question real. Then, calm and simple:
“I’m available.”
Robby went very still. Jack turned then, just slightly, and met his gaze.
Something flickered across Robby’s face. Surprise, relief, fear, something almost like grief, before he covered it with a crooked half smile.
“…Good,” he said quietly."
*****
Or the one where Robby tries to ruin a friendship so it would be easier to disappear, but Jack would never let that happen.

Summary
After Dennis tells Jack about his house-sitting conversation with Robby, Jack realizes Robby's life is at risk. He rushes to Robby's house, praying he isn't too late.
He doesn't know what he's going to do when he gets there, but he'll figure it out. He has to.
"Jack's fingers rose and brushed Robby's cheek. Robby's breath hitched, and he met Jack's eyes for the briefest of seconds before looking away again. Jack could see the wheels turning in Robby's mind, searching for something to say; some flippant remark to diffuse the tension that was quickly becoming intolerable, some quick-witted escape from the weight of the sheer gravity of the moment bearing down on him. But he came up empty, floundering, and Jack could feel Robby's panic rising like a mist in the air. There was no escape, and Robby knew it."

Summary
“Don’t give me that shit, Robby. Not to me.” Robby grit his teeth and looked to the side.
“Oh, so what? Why do I have to explain myself to you? You get this, you—” Robby sighed. “You’d think you might appreciate some gallows humor, after everything.”
“And you think if you keep joking about it I’m not going to act like it’s real,” Jack said. “But I know gallows and I know humor and I know what I’m seeing right now. Don’t give me shit, Robby.”
As the day shift winds down from the events of the Fourth, Jack notices an increasing pattern of disturbing behavior from Robby. He's well acquainted with the signs; too well acquainted. Something is wrong. And Jack is not losing Robby.

Summary
“Can I help? Please, I want— Let me help.”
It’s all too much, but his last three words prove to be Robby’s tipping point, pushing him finally and fully over the edge.
Desperate, jerky, he nods against Jack’s shoulder. He just barely manages to choke out, “Please,” and, “I’m so sorry,” before Jack shushes him.
“Don’t be sorry,” Jack says on repeat. “Don’t you be sorry, it’s okay. It’s all going to be okay, I got you, brother, alright? Neither of us is going anywhere without each other, I can promise you that.”
or: robby contemplates taking his own life after his last shift before his sabbatical. jack sees right through him.
