“It’s okay to be scared,” Eraserhead says. “I’d be scared too, if I didn’t know where I was or how I got there.”
The tears Izuku managed to hold back earlier fill his eyes again, and he bites hard at his lip. He’s seven now; he has to be brave. “I’m okay,” he says softly. “Th-thank you for saving me.”
Those strange, dark eyes soften a little. “It’s my job,” he says simply.
Still. Izuku never got to thank him, the first time.
Izuku gets hit by a quirk that de-ages him to seven years old, and relearns what it means to be taken care of.

Summary
Shouta unclenches his hand. He turns it so that his palm is facing up, and places it on his knee, trying to catch Izuku’s eye.
Just take it, kid, Shouta thinks, despairing a bit. Please.
But Izuku won’t meet his gaze, too busy trying to crack his own knuckles into oblivion, his fingers tinged white with the force of it. So, in lieu of a hand reaching back, Shouta just reaches forward and untangles Izuku’s from each other, squeezing once.
“I’ll stay with you until you fall asleep,” Shouta says. Izuku snaps up to look at him, a protest already halfway to his lips, but Shouta shakes his head, keeps his tone calm and certain. “And I’ll still be here when you wake up. If I am not here, Hizashi will be here. I promise you, Izuku. I won’t leave you alone in the dark.”
In which Aizawa tries to guide his kids home, Izuku ponders on what hope is not, and Katsuki haunts the narrative.

Summary
Izuku could have been a hero. But he isn’t. Instead he’s tired, cranky, and just trying to get through work. It would help if all these people stopped being so weird, nearly dying all the time. He just wants to earn his keep and get a good nights sleep.
In one instance Izuku is a hero- that’s what people keep saying. But that’s too strong a word. Too strong a feeling. Izuku isn’t a hero and he never will be. He doesn’t want to be one anymore either. A lifetime where he’s a hero doesn’t exist (even when it does). But that’s neither here nor there, nobody’s business.

Summary
Izuku did not plan on being a ward to an underground hero, let alone outliving his father, but he did both. He did not plan to be taken in, did not plan to get clean, and definitely did not plan to be situated at a hero school that haunted his dreams. He had been planning to kill a few people, grudges and vengeance and all that. But more importantly, and more currently: he planned to kill the current head of the yakuza.
It was terribly easy to do, actually.
(or: izuku is more than just a child with an unnerving quirk. he is a child with an unmatchable one.)
