“Matt?” Foggy asks. It’s an optimistic guess—there are a lot of guys who could be back, like the guy who sits in a study carrel and eats peanut butter out of a jar with his hands and Uncomfortable Religious Missionary Guy, who is actually three different guys.
“Yep,” she replies, nodding and widening her eyes when she grins. “He’s flirting with the circulation ladies, which means you’ve got just enough time to steal my shift at the reference desk before he gets there.”

“Everyone has bad breakups,” Foggy says, and this wasn’t a bad breakup. This was being gored alive (this was his heart being dragged out of his body by the veins, this was his blood turning to ichor, this wasn’t anything, not anymore). Matt drinks, feels electricity under his skin, finds a girl that smells like roses, and comes back to his room the next day with fresh scratches on his back (not as deep as Elektra’s, nobody can reach as deep as Elektra).
“See?” Foggy says, uncertainly, “no time at all. You’ll make it through this, buddy.”
(Matt goes through a period of hypersexuality after Elektra leaves, Foggy and Co are concerned.)

Eighteen. The third thought that Foggy had after an apparently teenage Matt was sitting in normal Matt’s apartment, after two emphatic what the fucks, was how he didn’t realize that Matt looked like a ridiculously hot twink at that age when he didn’t have all the scars and scruffy facial hair and jacked muscles to compare it to. There’s something about that mouth when Matt’s clean-shaven that’s just—obscene.
He’s going straight to hell.
