Many mornings where he played his music maybe too loud in the bathroom. But Jonas didn’t say anything, just smiled easily, and entertained his whims.
“You wanted that, no?” Tiesj says. “You asked Grischa.”
He had. And it was the best two weeks of his life.
(In which Matteo and Jonas are roommates again in Tignes. Matteo is excited and doesn't think he's annoying. He also doesn't think Jonas has changed.)

Jonas loses track of which one of them should be the voice of reason. When he speaks, it feels scratchy in his throat.
“What do we do, then?"
Wout looks at him again, smiling the way he does when he sneaks too many pastries into their room, untracked by nutritionists, or when he convinces Jonas to take a detour into the gravel.
“Well, where do you want to go?”
He’s not sure why he says it, but in the moment, it’s the farthest place he could imagine.
“Durango, Colorado.”
