    “I’m struggling.” Spencer had admitted, wringing his hands together absently, eyes shifting around the room to avoid the disappointment he was sure would be in Gideon’s eyes. He hadn’t thought he would be able to stand seeing his mentor look upon him with shame.

    Gideon had given Spencer advice and had offered support in the face of Spencer’s plea for help, but when the moment had passed, he had stood up and left without another word. He hadn’t really given Spencer the assistance he had wanted or needed.

    Spencer had still gone home after the case to his apartment. He had still been left to his own devices with the sound of glass clinking together as he set his bag down.

    This was inspired by another fic, that I loved but I really wanted a version where Hotch was nicer because I'm a sucker for soft Hotch.
