Cobalt City is famous for being the home of real-life vigilante superheroes. Kate Harvey, known as Nocturna, is one of them.
Vigilantism is a questionable coping mechanism for dealing with trauma she won’t ever be able to shake, but it works just fine if you ask her. Juggling school and her less than legal job on the side isn't ideal, but it’s nothing she can’t handle. Summary
First part of the "Absence" series. Shortly after meeting each other again at the end of the show, Marcy gets into a big fight with her parents. She moves back to L.A. temporarily, with Sasha mediating between them. Feelings arise which may turn romantic eventually, but also fears of damaging a finally stable, non-toxic friendship. But the girls survived a transdimensional war, some heartache won't be that bad ... right?

There’s really no point in denying it. Anne knows that Sprig will do anything for her as sure as he knows she’d do the same for him. It’s dumb to hide something like this from him. Almost as dumb as hiding it from herself. “Dude… it’s just… it doesn’t make sense. I’ve known her for years. Years. And now all of a sudden I’m… this? I’m this? What is this?”
“Eh well it happens,” Sprig says with a shrug. He hops over to an entire display of snail shell polish. “You know a person, then suddenly you see them from a whole new perspective and they’re new. I mean it’s been months since the last time you’ve been together and a lot changed since then. You’ve both changed, right? That’s gotta make you see things in a new light. Probably.”
“That’s oddly insightful of you.”
“I know, right? Usually I learn an important life lesson only after putting myself or someone I love in mortal peril. I guess I’m lucky today. Or Polly and Hop Pop are fighting for their lives right now and we don’t know it yet. Let’s stay in blissful ignorance, just for a little while.”
