“I don’t know,” Bucky snaps back. “I thought her messing with my brain would make it normal again. It makes sense; the seizures didn’t start until after the lobotomies—”
“The what,” says Sam.
(In which Bucky has a very bad day, Sam learns some fun new things about what HYDRA did to him, and the both of them have to deal with the crushing pressure of being public figures in the age of social media.)

In 1945, a Hydra experiment gone wrong sends their prisoner Bucky Barnes to the year 2025, where he meets Sam Wilson for the first time.
In 2025, Bucky is stolen from his happy life living and working with Sam and sent back to his Hydra cell in 1945.
Both of them love Sam, and both of them are trying to get back to where they belong without destroying the universe.

After a year and ten months of following up on leads that led to nothing but ransacked buildings full of decimated HYDRA goons, Sam finds Bucky Barnes when the dude walks right past him dressed in skintight jeans, a jacket straining over the wall of muscle that is his upper body, and leather gloves, and heads into the gay bar next door.
In which Sam finds Bucky before the events of Civil War, and what they do in Paris has a profound effect on how the next several years of their lives go. Written as a companion story to the films and the series, canon compliant with a whole lot of secret feelings.

Sam blinks again, then starts to laugh. “Shit. Well, I guess we’ll have to file for annulment.”
And maybe it’s the leftover buzz of the alcohol, or maybe it’s the way that Sam has started to feel like safety to him, but something makes Bucky blurt it out; he clears his throat and says, “Yeah, or we could just stay married.”
