Chapter Three: You’re Cute.
“Hello Mr. and Mrs. Bakugou. I am sorry we have to meet again under these conditions,” Aizawa said, frowning slightly. Mitsuki sighed as she took a sip of her tea, shaking her head as she placed it down.
“I feel we should be the ones apologizing, Mr. Aizawa. I can’t even begin to understand what my son has done,” Mitsuki sighed, chewing the inside of her lip.
“Have you been informed of everything that has gone down?” Aizawa asked. Masaru shook his head.
“We only know that Katsuki had gotten into a fight with that Kirishima boy,” Masaru said. Aizawa tensed up, the comfort of the couch not helping him at all. He was not prepared to have this talk with a student’s parents.
Aizawa took a deep breath and sighed as he tried to mentally prepare himself for this conversation. “I will tell you the details while we wait for Detective Tsukauchi to show up,” Aizawa said. “I’m sure you’re aware of your son's relationship with Izuku Midoriya?”
Mitsuki nodded, smiling. “Yes! We were both so happy and proud when the two came out to us! We both adore Izuku with our whole hearts. Heck, we practically raised him when Inko was working all the time. I’m honestly surprised we didn’t see Izuku at the hospital visiting Katsuki,” Mitsuki said, seeming to be thinking back. Aizawa internally cringed, not liking this conversation as well.
“Ah…” Aizawa started. “Well, the cause of the fight between your son and Kirishima was because your son was caught cheating with another student.”
Time seemed to freeze as the Bakugou’s took in that information.
“I’m sorry, what?” Masaru asked, sitting up straighter in his seat. Aizawa gulped, really not wanting to deal with this.
“Your son, Katsuki, has apparently been sleeping with another student behind Izuku’s back for a few weeks now. It’s come to my knowledge that Izuku had thoughts about Katsuki being unfaithful but he never confirmed it until he saw Katsuki and the other student in the kitchen one night when he was eating with Kirishima and Kaminari,” Aizawa said.
It took the Bakugou’s a few minutes to say, or do, anything. Mitsuki put her head in her hands as her husband excused himself for a moment. The back door in their kitchen was heard opening and slamming shut and from outside, Aizawa could hear glass break.
“I,” Mitsuki started but she seemed to be at a loss for words. “I don’t even know what to say.” Aizawa nodded, completely understanding her.
“I’m sorry, I know this is a hard thing to learn about. I thought you two had been informed of this already but, obviously, I was wrong,” Aizawa said, trying to make a small joke to lighten to mood a little but, obviously, it didn’t work.
Masaru came back into the house, shutting the back door quietly and making his way back to the couch. “I am sorry about that,” Masaru said, bowing slightly in his seat. Aizawa shook his head.
“No, it’s alright. I’m not ashamed to say I am just as pissed about this whole thing,” Aizawa said. Masaru smiled slightly and nodded.
“So, Kirishima was there when Izuku saw Katsuki and this other student in the kitchen? And that’s when they fought?” Masaru asked. Aizawa nodded.
“Well, to be honest, it was more like Kirishima beat the shit out of Katsuki. We have footage if you’d like to see it since you are Katsuki’s parents. I can bring it the next time we meet up to talk,” Aizawa offered. Masaru nodded.
“Thank you, I’d like to see it. All of it. From what happened in the kitchen to whatever happened after that,” Masaru said. Aizawa nodded and leaned back in his chair.
“Of course, I will have that the next time we talk,” Aizawa said. The doorbell rang and Masaru excused himself again to go answer the door.
“How is Izuku doing?” Mitsuki asked, finally looking back up. Aizawa pursed his lips and sighed.
“Izuku was found unresponsive, but breathing, in his room the day after. He has been in Recovery Girl’s office since, being watched over by her. He woke up yesterday, thankfully, and has been in and out of consciousness since. His friends have been by his side as much as they can between classes as well as after school,” Aizawa said. Mitsuki went pale when he mentioned the unresponsive part but by the end, she calmed down and hunched over in her seat.
“Oh my Kami. I can’t believe this. I am so sorry,” Mitsuki muttered. Masaru came back into the room, Tsukauchi right behind him.
“Ah, hello Ma’am, I am detective Tsukauchi,” Tsukauchi said, holding out his hand towards Mitsuki. Mitsuki looked up and smiled as she shook his hand.
“Pleasure to meet you, thank you for coming over,” Mitsuki smiled. “Would you like anything to drink? We have water, tea, and a few sodas if you would like.” Tsukauchi shook his head.
“I’m alright, but thank you for the offer. If it’s okay with you all, I’d like to talk about the legal stuff concerning your son and Kirishima,” Tsukauchi said. The three of them nodded and sat up in their seats.
“Yes,” Masaru said. Tsukauchi nodded and pulled out his file.
“Right now, our biggest topic is asking if you both are wanting to press charges against Kirishima for the damages he has done to your son,” Tsukauchi said. Mitsuki sighed and shook her head.
“No. We had thought about it, but after getting the story of what happened, we will not be pressing charges against Kirishima. We have both met and had him in our home before, he’s a lovely young man who I know sticks up for his friends. In my opinion, he did nothing but protect his friend,” Mitsuki said. Masaru nodded along next to her.
“Yes, we don’t want to press charges,” Masaru said. Aizawa smiled slightly.
“Alright, I’ll need you two to sign these forms saying you aren’t going to press charges. The last thing we need to talk about is your son’s future,” Tsukauchi said, handing them both a form with a pen.
Masaru signed his paper and handed the items back. He took a sip of his soda before sighing. “I’m guessing Katsuki is no longer welcome back at UA?”
“Well. There are a few options we have for him,” Aizawa started. “Once he is cleared from the hospital and cleared to go back to heroics, we will be giving him a test to see how much he has progressed over his time at UA. As his parents, I’m hoping that you know his behavior and actions had been… less than heroic, back when he first started at UA?”
Mitsuki nodded. “Yes, we always knew he had issues that have cause him to be a little shit, and that’s putting it lightly. We’ve tried to get him into therapy but he would always bail and wouldn’t come back home until late at night,” Mitsuki said. Aizawa sighed and nodded.
“His behavior and actions have improved greatly over the years but lately, he’s starting to revert back to his old ways. We need to test him on if he’s still capable of becoming a hero by UA’s standards,” Aizawa said. “If he does not want to take the test, then he will be excused from UA and will not be welcome back. If he fails the test, the same thing will happen.”
“If he passes the test, there’s a few options for him. One, he will be bumped down to Class B and someone from that class will take his spot. Two, he does his classes all online, only going to UA for his heroics class once school has let out for everyone else,” Tsukauchi said. “He will work with the other students that have chosen to do this back in the beginning of the year. The last option is for him to start his high school again as a first year student in the next year.”
The Bakugou’s nodded along as Tsukauchi spoke, thinking of all the options their son had. “Seems reasonable,” Masaru spoked.
“If Katsuki passes the test and stays at UA, he will be given three weeks of house arrest and four months of detention. He will also go to Hound Dog, our school’s best counselor, and take therapy sessions three times a week in the beginning. If his behavior improves and Hound Dog thinks it’s a good idea, it will be reduced to twice a week,” Aizawa said. Mitsuki smiled and nodded along.
“I like that. It will teach him a lesson and the therapy would be a big help for him,” Mitsuki said. Masaru nodded and leaned back in his chair.
“Alright then, this is all we had to talk about today. There will be more to be discussed at our next talk,” Tsukauchi smiled. “Is there anything you two want to ask before we take our leave?”
“Yes,” Mitsuki started. “Will we be able to visit UA sometime and talk to Izuku and Kirishima? As well as Izuku’s other friends that have helped him, if that’s possible. I’d like to talk to Izuku but also thank the others.” Aizawa thought it over for a few seconds but soon smiled and nodded.
“I’m sure we’ll be able to make that happen. I’ll have to get in touch with Nezu about it, but knowing him, he’d be more than happy for the both of you to visit,” Aizawa said.
A few minutes later and the two were saying their goodbyes to the Bakugou’s. Aizawa sighed as he got into the Detective’s car, running his hand through his hair.
“Next time, we’re both showing up together. I am never having that conversation with a student’s parents again,” Aizawa grunted, putting his seat belt on. “You told me you told them all the details!” Aizawa accused, glaring at Tsukauchi.
Tsukauchi only laughed, turning his car on and driving down the street. “Oops?”
“Hey ‘Zu,” Eijirou called, walking into Recovery Girls’ office with Denki. “How are you feeling?” Eijirou was relieved to see Izuku awake and even sitting up in his temporary bed. Izuku was currently on his phone, one headphone in as he listened to music and looked out the window.
“Oh,” Izuku said, looking over to the two walking in. He smiled and waved shyly, Denki smiling as he waved back. “Umm, I’m okay, I think,” Izuku said but it came off more as a question. Denki nodded and smiled sadly as he sat down in the chair next to Izuku’s bed.
“I get that. I can’t even imagine going through all of this. You’re too brave, sometimes,” Denki said, making a joke at the end. Eijirou snorted and Izuku laughed quietly.
“Yeah, I get that a lot,” Izuku laughed. Eijirou pulled up another chair next to Denki and placed the bag he was carrying on Izuku’s bed. Izuku became curious and tried to look inside the bag but Eijirou quickly put his hand over the top, blocking anything inside from Izuku’s view.
“Hey! Some top secret stuff in here!” Eijirou joked, laughing. Izuku pouted as he tried to get Eijirou’s hand off of the bag.
“Come on! What’s inside?” Izuku asked. Despite his efforts, he couldn’t get Eijirou’s hand off the bag and he finally gave up with a huff. “Fine.”
Denki laughed as he lightly hit Eijirou’s arm. “Come on, Ei, let him see what’s in the bag!” Denki laughed. Eijirou pretended to be thinking for a few seconds before dramatically sighing and taking his hand off of the bag. Izuku immediately snatched the bag away from the two, loving how the two laughed at that.
Izuku pulled out the items and found it was mostly just snacks, drinks, and a small Kuromi stuffed animal. Izuku held the toy, staring at it in awe. He turned it over a few times, smiling more and more as he looked at it. He finally looked up at the other two.
“Is this for me?” Izuku asked, holding the toy to his chest. Denki smiled and nodded.
“Yeah. Thought you’d want a friend to go with your Badtz-Maru,” Eijirou smiled, tilting his head. Izuku’s face brightened and he turned around slightly, reaching under his pillow and bringing his Badtz-Maru stuffed animal out. He sat them on the bed next to each other, laughing and smiling as he brought his phone out, taking a picture of the two.
Denki covered his face with his hands. He couldn’t handle the cuteness that Izuku was radiating. Eijirou was no better, a small blush on his face as he covered his mouth with his hand. The two shared a look and with only eye contact, they understood each other completely.
“Thank you guys so much! Oh my Kami, this is adorable! I love it!” Izuku exclaimed, looking at the two with stars in his eyes. He finally noticed the two’s body language and froze, thinking he did something wrong. “Is everything okay?” Izuku asked. He curled up on himself a bit, talking in nearly a whisper.
Denki heard the anxiety in Izuku’s voice, taking his hands off of his face quickly to see Izuku looking down. Denki quickly shook his head. “No! Not at all, ‘Zu,” Denki said. Eijriou coughed and the two looked over to see him looking at the wall with a blush still on his face.
“You’re just really cute,” Eijirou muttered, making Denki gawk at him and Izuku to turn into a strawberry. Well then.
“Oh,” Izuku whispered. Izuku didn’t know what to think at the moment.
“You guys want to watch a movie and eat the snacks?” Denki asked, pulling the two out of whatever they were in. He could tell the air was about to get thick with an awkward silence and did not want that to happen. It worked, though, and the two were back to themselves.
“Sure, I can set it up on my laptop,” Izuku said smiling.
“How is his health doing, Recovery Girl?” Aizawa asked. Recovery Girl sighed and handed over her file on Izuku.
“His health is a lot better. His breathing is back to normal and I got some food and water into him. All of his vitals are fine, so there’s no concern there,” Recovery Girl said. “My main concern is his mental health. He has these times where he just completely goes silent, and he’ll stare at something for minutes at a time without blinking.”
Aizawa hummed. “That’s a little weird. Is he thinking, or talking to himself when he does that?” Aizawa asked. Recovery Girl shrugged her shoulders.
“I have no idea. After a few minutes, it’s like he just snaps out of it and is back to his regular self. He does it a lot when talking to people. He has done it five times when talking to me and he’s done it twice while talking with Nezu,” Recovery Girl said. “Nezu would just smile and watch Izuku the entire time, not blinking either. It’s honestly a little creepy. He said it was fascinating but I honestly have no idea what he means by that.”
Aizawa nodded, that is definitely weird. “Is Izuku aware that he has done that a few times?” Aizawa asked. Recovery Girl shook her head.
“No. I asked him after every time he did it if he knew what just happened, but he doesn’t recall a thing,” Recovery Girl said. Aizawa nodded and leaned back in his seat. “Izuku will be cleared tomorrow to go back to the dorms. I want him staying there for the day after, but after that, he is good to go back to his classes. I want you and his friends to keep an eye on him. And once a night, I want you to check in on him. Make sure he hasn’t done anything.”
“Got it. I’ll let his friends know and I’ll do the night checks. I’ll keep you updated every night as well,” Aizawa said. Recovery Girl smiled and nodded.
“Thank you. I’ll add the check-ins in his file and if nothing goes wrong after a while, it should be safe for the checks to stop. We’ll discuss this more as we watch over him,” Recovery Girl said. Aizawa nodded and stood up.
“Thank you for the tea. I have a meeting with All Might and Nezu in an hour so I need to go prepare for that. Have a good day, Chiyo,” Aizawa said. Recovery Girl smiled and nodded.
“Of course. Have fun, don’t go too crazy,” Recovery Girl said. Aizawa nodded and took his leave. Recovery Girl cleaned up the table and went back to her office, seeing Denki and Eijirou still there next to Izuku.
“You’ll be cleared to go back to the dorms tomorrow, are you excited?”
“Hmm… yeah, I am. No offense, these beds are not the comfiest.”
“Haha, I understand that. We’ll be keeping an eye on you still, but after a day of rest at the dorms, you’ll be good to go back to your classes.”
“That’s good. I’m tired of just sitting around, doing nothing.”
“Don’t worry, things will get better soon.”
